Re: Why does the Mach64 drivers for win95 only gave me 16 co

Weirdest question I will ask you is: Is it ever possible that you didn't finish the installation part? It might be possible seeing that your background is the Win95 install, or did you just change to that? Try triggering the installation by opening Help(at least, that's how I triggered it)

Re: Machine Specs

It isn't possible to spread out emulation of a single processor over multiple cores. Flat out impossible. So no, that won't happen in V12. PCem does use additional cores for accelerated graphics cards though, particularly Voodoo. How 'bout..... Dual Processors! On a serious note, though, some old a...

Re: Machine Specs

PCem probably only uses one core, and the FX 8350 is horrible at single-core tasks. 80% at W98 desktop, though. That's quite weird. Tone down to 128MB RAM, 70-133MHz non-MMX pentium and try again. Also, get the official V11 binary and use that as a baseline to see if your compile has an increase or ...

Re: Skipping music in games

Change the Video mode to Direct3D. For me, this makes many games un-chop. Doom, Duke Nukem 3D goes into a very playable state, Quake I and II goes butter-smooth, Half-Life 1 goes into barely playable, and smooth-already games like Commander Keen and 3D Pinball(lol ikr) pins at 100%-120%. Fluctuating...

Remember when I said I would attempt to do the BSOD again on Sunday? GUESS WHAT? HDD CRASH!!!!

I'm downloading Win2K ISO again now in order to redo the BSOD, but with my Science, BM, and English test tomorrow, I might not be awake to redo the BSOD. In that case, tomorrow would do.

I can't do the BSOD anymore, as I've successfully installed Win2K from upgrading from Win98. I'll redo the installation again to make the BSOD appear again sometime tomorrow. BTW Tom have you considered making USB support in the near future for Pentium machines? It can eliminate many problems for ma...

I tried booting the Windows 2000 from the ISO. It straight went into the bsod after a long load. Prehaps it was me not partitioning my new drives.(I thought boot might do that for me, guess not) I'm now trying a different method: Running the Upgrade procedure from Win98. Re: Direct3D performance

My god am I an idiot. I changed to Direct3D from DirectDraw. Doom2 now plays fine, GLQuake now runs a 'lil less choppy but still far from playable. As for CPU percentage, in DD it was hovering at the 95-100 mark(75 mark at GLquake) and in D3D it's always no lower than 90, even in GLquake. Never got ...

Re: MS-DOS Prompt Freeze, Clock random 00:00 & sound no flui

Turn down your Pentium to a 75MHz, disable Game Blaster and Ultrasound, minimalize the Voodoo settings but KEEP the BILINEAR FILTERING on. That should minimalize the sound chipping.

As for the freezes, I believe you screwed up on the installation. Reinstall, or, (rest in PM)

Re: Problem with Windows 3.1x and GUS

Never heard of the 5.51 driver. Use the 4.11 one that DOSbox uses. That one is stable and usable. MAKE SURE that the SB settings do NOT conflict with the GUS ones. I usually use 220,7,1,5 for SB and 240,5,3 for the GUS

Re: How is Voodoo performance doing in latest REVs

On my machine (Core i5-3550) with the recompiler enabled and using 2 render threads, the emulated fillrate is now always at or above the rate of the real card (35-40 mpixels/sec in actual games) in the games I tried. I have seen it go considerably faster (> 100 mpixels/sec) in one game (Shadowman),...

Re: Writing down about performance in PCem

Quake's nothing. You can burn through in p166 a lot cache on a Phenom II on that with a pgo build, runs 100% and performs roughly similar to Pentium laptops of the era Eradicator though......... recent Core i5's struggle with that on P75 Infinite lol I don't have access to different builds. I don't...

Re: Writing down about performance in PCem

I'd say Phenom II 3GHz is a good min for 3dfx emulations assuming P133 A Lot cache. It's enough for skirting along Turok on 512x384 with the filter disabled. Having two threads for it is also a big help, and there's still more room for speedups (like using SSE2 to handle the texture mapping) random...

Re: Installing Windows 95.

1. Make a drive image in PCem. Name this something distinctive, like OMGWTFCYKABLYAT.img or something. The most important part is that you name it with .img, as PCem dosen't do that on it's own. 2.Boot to a bootdisk. These boot you into a DOS environment. Use FDISK and FORMAT to partition and format...

- Battler: I'm using the windows 10 mount options(right click, mount). Works for anything below 200MB in Windows 9X, full in DOS. Hosting an actual CD works well too. I don't have access to any software CDs but testing what CPU to emulate best with Metallica works great.

Re: Installing win 98 from CD

IDK why but installing Win9x on the CD is a total nightmare in PCem. For me, my problem is that when Windows is installed it would not detect the virtual CDs NO MATTER WHAT. Real CDs however, do fine (I only have a couple of metal albums on CD so that's useless). Try extracting the win98 folder in t...
