Re: v14 compatibility & bug list (WIP)
There's nothing strange about giving an estimate of a new release. What the hell is wrong with people here? Other people don't act this way about their projects. The thing that you are missing here is that coordinating a project is a job that requires a specific set of skills. A roadmap takes into ...

Good idea.terub56 wrote: ↑Sat 13 Oct, 2018 8:19 amIt is possible to include the fastest virtual CPU that is possible to emulate with the physical one? Or include a FAQ or pin a post with this information.
Mine is i5-3210M (2 cores / 4 threads at 2.5 GHz) and I am able to emulate up to Pentium@75 at almost full speed.

Ryzen 7 2700X
16GB DDR4
Windows 10
Clocks from 3.9 to 4.0 GHz running all cores.
Edit: It runs up to a Pentium MMX 233 at full speed or very close to it. It could probably also handle Voodoo 2 SLI, but I've been distracted by other hobbies instead of getting that working.

It does seem, on first glance, that you're missing C's standard ints header file. Google says that's "<cstdint>".

Re: Shaders guide?
I just noticed that with V13 shaders can be loaded once Opengl 3.0 has been selected as renderer. I had no idea about this! Was the feature unannounced or am I missing or something, some manual or readme file or else? Anyway, I have been trying to load crt-royale.glslp to no avail. Upon selecting i...

When +0 and -0 not only exist, but are different and distinct values, then, well... Problems are basically inevitable.

Re: Sound stutters whatever the configuration
Blimey - I'm well out then! Looks like I'll have to stick to the 486 emulation. I was hoping to run some old classics like Tomb Raider II etc! I suppose the requirements go up yet again for things like the Voodoo emulation? Thanks again. A Voodoo 1 or Voodoo 2 needs 3 cores (1 for the CPU, 2 for th...

Hi all, Bit of a newbie to the more recent builds of PCEM, and I hope this is OK to post here - apologies in advance if not. It's not a bug as such, but whatever configuration I try, the sound stutters. I have tried Windows 3.1, 95 and 98 with various sound card set ups but it will never play sound...

My completely unofficial thought on this: v14 is going to be about recompiler stability, so it's probably not going to have many new features.

Re: Interstate '76 - Missing triangles
A.Naim , You got nice CPU but it wont anyway run at 3.4 if You are using all 4 cores, unfortunately boost speed shown is only valid if it runs on single core (bloody marketing), so on 4 i will be less. For example my I5 2410m on single core has a potential to run close to 2.9 but on 2 cores it can ...

Just quick question, are you sure You got 2.4 GHz laptop? it sounds to me as it is running at 3.2 minimum. What is the model? and CPU on it? I just think You really have no clue, how fast Your CPU is runing , and assuming You got I5,I7 then 2.4 will be the base frequency. I run 2.7 GHz I5 and 233 M...

Re: CDROM on older machines
Ah, I thought PCEM must be injecting something since as you say the BIOS on those machines can't see anything. First, I'm not sure what you call "older machines" all PCem machines are more than 20 years old... By default, PCem assigns D: to the CDROM... but that can be easily configured in the menu...

I'm liking this release. There's compatibility issues, but so far only with games that had issues in the first place.

Homeworld 1 appears to play flawlessly, as far as graphics and glitches go. However: * The in-game menus drop down to single-digit FPS. * A Pentum MMX166 appears to be on the low end for playing it - My CPU couldn't run the emulated MMX233 faster than 60-70% during gameplay, and lagged near the end ...

More info: * The colours can be funky on startup. Changing the resolution works, as does changing it back. 1024x768 always has colour problems. This may be a palatalization of 16 bit to 8 colours. * The first time I76.exe is run, an exception is returned. Any runs after that will start and work corr...

Which renderer are you using? If Direct3D or Glide, what driver version and DirectX are you using? If Voodoo2, Did you limit 2MB memory in Glide? If it's I76's terrible terrain pop-in and occasional road poly Z-fighting you're referring to: that's a real thing. Software. No, it's not that. I'm well...

I like the general idea of WebASM, but think it's too tied to the ideas and needs of webpages. If there was some sort of generic, retargetable ASM that could be optimized per-platform that was aimed at speed first... But I don't know enough about ASM to say how feasible it is. Certainly, it would be...
