[Patch] CMPXCHG8B for the IDT WinChip

This was something I brought up a little bit back in 2014 before the Pentium emulation was added. Well, it's been three and a half years since then, and with the people who would use CMPXCHG8B requiring applications on PCem just using the Pentium, the issue fell to the wayside. So then, is there CMP...

The config panel not letting you choose EGA is not a bug, as it's locked to EGA no matter what is selected beforehand.

nerd73's CPU patches

From now on I'll be putting all of my CPU-related patches within this topic. Let's start with something fairly simple: So, right now for 486/5x86 and lower PCem uses forward-slashes: Example: 486DX2 / 66 While the 6x86 and most other things identifying these CPUs use dashes: Example: 386DX - 40 This...

Umm, FYI, PCem-X is no longer being developed, and PCem-X is out of date anyways.
Use PCem-experimental instead if you want the featureset of PCem-X.

Re: DTK 386SX Clone and Phoenix 386 clone.

I've noticed something with the Phoenix 386 clone. The Phoenix 80386 ROM BIOS will max out at 64 MB (640 KB Base Memory, 64512 KB Extended). If I select RAM to allocate higher than 64 MB, the extended memory counter will wrap at 0 KB as it relies on a 16-bit unsigned integer to store the total amou...

As far as I know, it's the part of the ct486 driver that is found in MAME. I don't think that the CS4031 emulation has been emulated at this time. But other than that, the machine works as is.
Why would you need more than 4 HDDs or even want the Bochs BIOS?

Re: AMI 486 w/CS4031 chipset (CT486) and Bochs BIOS

Currently, MAME has working support for the driver known as CT486. It is another AMI 486 clone, but it has the CS4031 chipset and has the BIOS date of 1992-07-07. Plus, it's the first 486-based machine to have XTIDE support for up to 8 hard disks. In order to use XTIDE, drive C and D hard drive typ...

Re: DTK 386SX Clone and Phoenix 386 clone.

BIOS'es differ as to what scan code set they expect the keyboard to be in during POST. Some require untranslated set 1 (such as the AMI BIOS'es), and some Award BIOS'es require translated set 2. Some are fine with whatever the keyboard is set to. That makes perfect sense. Now which file is the one ...

The DTK 386SX clone is pretty much completely working (apart from that nasty menu config bug - does not show up in config menu) and for the Phoenix 386 I am just looking for a newer BIOS (at least 1989, the 01/15/1988 version has non-working setup).
