Re: 286 12Mhz clock speed is slightly different

Mine is 12.5MHz too, that's the reason I made this suggestion. But it's okay, just a small change that I can maintain locally

Re: [Patch] BIN/CUE-image support

To anyone having problems with this on Linux: remember about case-sensitivity. Some older cd ripping programs write the cuesheets contents in upper case, including the filename of the .bin. Just edit the cuesheet/rename the .bin and it should work. Or you can use all uppercases when ripping. I can c...

286 12Mhz clock speed is slightly different

According to every datasheet I could find, the all the -12 80286s were actually 12.5MHz. This is a small difference from the round 12Mhz value currently in the code, but I thought I would report it anyway.

Re: [Linux] GUI discussion

The screen is not redrawn when switching virtual desktops on Linux. This is worse if emulating a system without mouse, because then we can't just move the mouse to force the screen to be redrawn.

Re: All floppy formats for all machines?

I've built this card (along with all the other cards by him.) The BIOS is for computers which do not know about the enhanced features present in newer floppy disk controllers, so all you should do is load the BIOS and probably call some functions to set the FDC capabilities in the model you want (se...

Re: [Linux] GUI discussion

That shouldn't be a problem. The software renderer is missing a few features though such as linear filtering, but maybe a message box could pop up the first time explaining that it's there for compatibility reasons and should be changed to OpenGL if possible. But linear filtering should be disabled...

Re: Mach64 VT2

Rage Pro would be a very sweet card to have! Despite being known for bad driver quality, it never let me down in any game I tried between 1997-2001. Very good to hear about the (small? big?) possibility of emulating it some years in the future.

Re: [Linux] GUI discussion

My main problem with using this GUI on Windows would be fact it uses SDL for input which on Windows refers back to DirectInput from what I know, which according to Microsoft themselves should not be used for keyboard because it breaks when the host OS is set to a keyboard layout that is not English...

Re: [BUG] NSSI hangs AMI WinBIOS 486 machine!

I have a 286 with internal IDE (SCAT chipset). But since the chipset is from 1989, it's on par with the 486 timeframe. That makes you half-right :D :o Can you post a pic of the motherboard? I never seen a 286 with an onboard IDE controller :o It's on storage, unfortunately (it was my first PC and n...

Rendering fails in the game Zone Raiders

Tested this game in various configurations, including dynarec pentium and interpreter 486 and in all of them the 3d rendering fails. I've changed almost all settings and there was no effect in the rendering. Attached two screenshots showing what happens. Probably a CPU bug? Works in DOSBOX and in re...

Re: Intel Advanced/EV -> Advanced/ZP

It turns out it also happens with the Endeavor, but the BIOS simply doesn't strictly check the configuration. I know that PCem mostly ignores Super IO settings in some emulated systems. In this case, a UM8669F Super IO device is emulated while both the Endeavor and Zappa use the National Semiconduct...

Intel Advanced/EV -> Advanced/ZP

PCem supports the Advanced/EV (Endeavor) intel motherboard, but the BIOS doesn't have CD-ROM boot capability. The Advanced/ZP (Zappa) motherboard is nearly identical, except for not having optional onboard audio/video which PCem doesn't emulate anyway. The ICs, memory map, etc, are all equal. After ...

Re: [Voodoo] Unreal

It's trilinear filtering, not triple buffering.

From the screenshot it seems that one of the problems with LOD is that it isn't "smooth". It seems to only change after an entire texture repetition, not mid-texture.

Sorry for taking over the topic, win3200, I hope that you get your PC working. Re: and... I have one more question about BIOS

I was able to emulate another korean PC (Hyundai Super 286-TR) that uses the same 82C235/82C710 chipset just by dumping the bios and loading it on PCem. Works fine except for the occasional "Memory refresh error" on boot, which is skippable.

I dumped the BIOS from an old 286 of mine (Hyundai Super 286-TR) which used this chipset and it actually worked! Only problem is that sometimes "refresh timing error" is displayed after POST, but it is 100% stable after lots of testing. Thanks!

I'm guessing that BIOS label only shows that a PS/2 mouse was detected, not a serial one (I doubt the BIOS tries to detect serial mice, because the ports are not dedicated)

I'm am using Advanced/EV without any major problems, it is very similar to the Advanced/ZP board I've had in the mid-90's. Re: original resolution output?

There's also the problem of actually achieving resolutions like 320x200 on a modern operating system. Windows, its drivers and modern video card may get in the way, even if all is OK with the monitor. The way to do this is doubling pixels and having black bars when the native resolution isn't a mult...
