Bug in Genxt
I mentioned in an earlier tread, the one about the Landmark diagnostic ROM, that I was developing a diagnostic ROM myself. The IBM-PC has two dip switch blocks, SW1 and SW2. SW1 is read by reading port A of the 8255 after bit 7 of port B has been set to 1. SW2 is read by reading the bits 4..7 of por...

Landmark ROMs don't work well in PCem
Hello, I'm busy programming my own diagnostics ROM for the PC-XT and compatibles. I'm using the Landmark ROMs, to be found at [Moderator: Please do NOT post links to copyrighted material], as a reference. I tried the ROM meant for the XT under PCem and noticed that it raises an error on the three 82...

I would like to add external ROMs
I already asked in the General part how to add external ROMs. Zup answered that for the moment it is only possible to install XT-IDE. His idea: rename my ROM to the XT-IDE one. Where do I need it for? I want to test and tweak Sergey Malinov's (Xi8088) Floppy-BIOS. If it works out allright, I want to...

Re: [Patch] Xi8088 - GPL XT system bios
I own two Xi8088s. I want to develop some programs for and I only just found out that V14 supports the Xi8088. So far I used V10.1 and the first thing I noticed was the different inerface. But the submenu wasn't that different. But still I wasn't able to find the Xi8088. What am I doing wrong? Thank...

How to add an external ROM like XT-IDE?
I am writing a program that has to be run from an external ROM. So far I haven't found anyhing that tells me how to do it. I know it should be possible because the README.TXT says you can use XT-IDE but unfortunately doesn' tell you HOW to do it. It should be something simple but obvious I missed it...

Re: VGA support on IBM XT (clone)
I upload them to my site where you can download them. I'll notify you. http://www.baltissen.org/temp/et4000.bin As you can see, only one. One was a WDC card that you don't support AFAIK. I tested et4000.bin on a general XT, the Commodore PC30, the IBM XT with my own BIOS and on the IBM XT itself. B...

Re: VGA support on IBM XT (clone)
Hallo Battler, Oops, I completely overlooked the fact that I even have to supply the BIOS of the VGA card. I work with all my PCs in the same way: I connect them to my KVM switch. For the PC/XT compatibles I need an extra gadget: the AT2XT keyboard converter. For the same reason I also equipped my P...

VGA support on IBM XT (clone)
Hello, I have a real IBM PC-XT with a VGA card. I often test software first on PCem on my laptop but in VGA specific cases that is impossible because PCem doesn't support VGA for the IBM-XT. Or do I do something wrong or missed something? If not, is it possible to support VGA, please? Thank you! Kin...

Re: How do I load a lot of software?
So far I have used WinImage only to create images of floppy disks and vica versa. To be honest, I have never thought about using it to manipulate hard disk images images. Just did a quick test: - it seems I cannot create directories my self inside WinImage - so I created one on my PC and filled it ...

Re: How do I load a lot of software?
Hallo Neozeed, winimage is a favorite way to manipulate virtual disk images for FAT/FAT32. So far I have used WinImage only to create images of floppy disks and vica versa. To be honest, I have never thought about using it to manipulate hard disk images images. Thank you !!! Groetjes / kind regards,...

How do I load a lot of software?
Hallo allemaal / hello everybody, So far I used PCem only to test my own BIOSes for the PC-XT. Now I want to go a step further. But to be able to I need to install some software on the hard disk drive. If it was a 286 or better IMHO the means to do it is is to create a CD-ROM ISO and use that. But t...
