2. S3 ViRGE is a video chipset, mainly for displaying 2D video, also did some 3D, but was very poor at that. Diamond Stealth 2000 was a video card made by Diamond Multimedia with that certain chip. 3. I don't know for sure, but my guess is slow than the original, since is an adaptation for slower ch...

808x bug - Castle Master

I tried to run the game "Castle Master" with many video cards: Hercules, CGA, EGA, VGA with 8088/6 computers and it freezes in the castle screen. If I run it with a 286 or better, below the castle it says "PRESS ANY KEY" and the game works fine. The game shoud run on any XT class system, so my guess...

Re: CD rom images will not load and freeze the GUI

I've been having a similar issue. It's the whole reason I registered with this forum. Using v14, in either MS-DOS 6.22 or Win98SE in DOS mode, tried with multiple CD drivers, everything is detected correctly, but trying to access the disk causes PCEm to crash. When I boot Win98SE fully it works jus...

Re: Puzzle Bobble and Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure fail to detect CD-ROM

Indeed, I get the same error with Puzzle Bubble. It says it cannot recognize the Audio tracks. I opened the Windows 95's CD player and the Audio Tracks don't play right, I believe there's the problem. The Audio Tracks are properly dumped, as they sound fine in a modern computer. PS: I even lowered t...

Is that image from a game?
Can you mount those images with another emulator outside PCem? Like Alcohol or Demon Tools?

I didn't say GF2 needs to be added to PCem. I just said that both games work fine with GF2 64mb. If we get past Voodoo2 that will be a success.
Ok, I misunderstood. Voodoo3 is very likely to be added to PCem, however, the performance is near the Voodoo2 SLI we currently have

New computer? HP Brio 8014 - Help needed

I acquired this HP Brio 8014 computer which is 430VX chipset based with a Phoenix BIOS. I think this might be a good add to PCem since there is no computer with the 430VX chipset. Is had a nice Brio splash screen ;) I know Sarah is busy with the recompiler, but is there anyone else who could make a ...

Can you add Serious Sam: The First Encounter (2001) and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter (2002) to the list. They work on both Win95 and Win98 with Voodoo2. The only problem is that game is very slowed down because it needs a more powerful graphic card like Nvidia GeForce2. Wow, we are light years...

Re: Speed improvement

How the emulator works, I have no idea, but you can take a look at the C code if you know something about programming. As for the speed improvement, the owner of this project said that after this current release (after Apr 20th) she will start working on that subject, but that's gonna take some time...

For games with Audio tracks you'll find BIN or WAV format, but not OGG. It is a very bad idea to preserve games with lossy audio tracks

Re: PCem system requirements

Btw, what are Mobile Pentium processors for? Mobile Pentium processors were designed for use in notebooks. They don't use the Socket 7 format, so in real life you can't put those Mobile processors in the current 430VX mother. I guess Sarah put them in PCem for a little more of speed, but I hope she...

Maybe should you add in the "Not bug" category "Pictionary " and "Hitman: Codename 47" (this later game has crashes with Glide, but works fine with Direct3D)

Re: [REQUEST] CD-ROM speed

I've committed a rough implementation of this to rev 1110. Seek times are a very rough model, transfer time is impacted by the existing ATAPI & SCSI emulation, but performance should be roughly correct, particularly for the lower speed drives. Thank you, thank you, thank you! However I will only wi...

Looks like Half-Life Doy, why didn't I think about that? But anyyays, question time - what's the latest game you've tested so far with PCem? For me was Hitman: Codename 47 (2000) - It has good framerate, however there are random crashes not related to PCem (it seems it works best with nVidia cards)...
