Re: Will having more than 65 gb ram makes pcem faster?
Uprgrading the amount of GB RAM to 96 will most likely have no effect on PCem speed and performance. I did the same thing with some PSX emulator about 20 years ago when I increased the amount of MB RAM from 64 to 256 and as far as I remember I couldn't gain a single FPS. Perhaps faster RAM speed co...

Will having more than 65 gb ram makes pcem faster?
My current rig is I9 9900K 3.6 ghz, and 32 gb ram, and a geforce gtx 1080 8 gb, my pcem machine ie set at pentium 2 with voodoo 2 and 64 mb ram. Games runs ok but in the os itself the mouse is sometime sslower, and the clicking sounds just "crackle" and some games could use more fps..so if...

Re: Dos Game MOTO x has garbled fonts
You didn't mention your video card. I'm assuming Voodoo3 from the regression of EGA fonts from the VESA 3.0 BIOS extensions, so try an older video card I have set a voodoo 2, i wouldn't even know how to set a voodoo 3 being that is not selectable I have a s3 trio 64 dx, i tried with regular s3 trio...

Dos Game MOTO x has garbled fonts
Hello all I just tried the game MOTo x ( demo version a super small game from early 90's) and this is how it looks on pcem using windows 98: (see first attachment). In dosbox game runs fine. (see second attachment) I tried rebooting in dos mode the win 98 machine on pcem but the game just resets the...

Re: DOS games crashes win 98 if i choose PII as cpu
yes, tried that in dos mode only. games works fine there, but it's a bit of a hassle. despite the fact taht i know that some dos games runs better in pure dos and not through windows. i installed the new drivers but issue remains :( Also i tried to open up a dos command prompt from windows and it sa...

Re: DOS games crashes win 98 if i choose PII as cpu
also, for some reason running any DOS application would crash Windows (95 or 98) on a Gigabyte board if you set your graphics card to ViRGE/DX and use the August 1997 drivers (otherwise known as the most stable drivers for that card that also come bundled with DirectX 6 install package). If you by ...

DOS games crashes win 98 if i choose PII as cpu
I usually use my pcem win 98 config with a p166 mmx and 64 mb of ram. after reading the topic "maximizing pcem performance", where many of you guys used to set up pII config correctly, being that i own a I9 9900k 3.6 ghz i decided to change the config to the mobo and PII cpu as you guys do...

Re: Metropolis (1987) on a win 98 machine garbled image won't run
Foudn the culprit..it requires a ega/cga video card ot won't even boot.
Changed it and it runs...but i thought there was a way to change/switch it on the fly from a dos command?

Re: Game Terracide won't recognize 3d card in pcem
Does something "bad" happen if i just switch from voodoo 2 to vo0doo1, driver wise? It won't initialize the card and will just annoy you with warning popups. You'll want to cleanly uninstall the Voodoo2 driver (to rid of the display panel, driver .inf, etc) and then install a Voodoo Graph...

Yeah i guessed so, and i guess it would be useless to ask it here where to get them..despite being 20+ years of video card manufacturers stufftr.StEalTH wrote: ↑Mon 14 Dec, 2020 6:20 pm you would need pcemv17 and the v3 rom files placed in pcem\roms\voodoo3_2000 or voodoo3_3000

Re: Game Terracide won't recognize 3d card in pcem
Maybe it was only compatible with the first Voodoo? In addition, if that doesn't work you could give it a shot with S3 Virge well, setting an s3 virge dx actually works! it is recognized as directx "3d hardware" in the game but it works. Still bummed i cannot find banshee or voodoo 3 in t...

Re: Game Terracide won't recognize 3d card in pcem
Given the poor reviews it had, I wouldn't doubt they'd have some hacky voodoo secondary D3D device detection routine that isn't futureproof for recognizing '3dfxv2' in 1997 (much like Jet Moto). V2 drivers work slightly different to V1 regarding D3D HAL behavior though... On the other hand, it does...

Game Terracide won't recognize 3d card in pcem
Do you know why the game Terracide, on a win 98 pcem machine, doesn't detect the voodoo 2 card? game supposrts 3dfx cards and other kind of accelerators, but on pcem i only have software as video card, and in there it runs horribly i tried turok, the first one, and runs fine, the 3dfx drivers are re...

How to make the game BUG! run at decent speed on a w98 vm?
My rig first: I9 9900k 3.6 ghz 32 gb gtx geforce 8 gb I have set up a machine with win 98 and a pentium 166 and voodoo 2 and video card S3 Trio64v2/dx. All voodoo games run perfectly playable, but non 3dfx games, like BUG!, a w95 game just stutters if i choose a resolution other than 400x300. 512 x ...

Re: Win 98 - some 3dfx randomly crash at desktop

Re: CD rom images will not load and freeze the GUI
I'd assume this is the WX mouse locking problem with the window focus, reproducible by doing this: - open a CD-rom or shader manager window - Tab to another window - Close another window - Witness your mouse get stuck in the center of the PCem window i tried that and the mouse won't get stuck..it j...

Hard disk not recognized in win 98
Using my old config used for pcem 13, i started pcem 14, but it can only recognize the main hd with the win 98 os on it, and not the other hard disk i configured months ago, which was working with pcem13 strange thing is that in the bios, at the bootup it is recognized. once i start win 98 it just w...
