Re: [BUG] OS2 SCSI boot failures

OS/2 2.11 works with "DISKCACHE=1024,LW,AC:C" in CONFIG.SYS when using the Adaptec AHA-1542C (I haven't tested it with IDE.) Using "D" in place of 1024 simply results in a warning at startup that the DISKCACHE line is invalid.

Re: [BUG] OS2 SCSI boot failures

As of the current dev build (ac37538), both issues are fixed. OS/2 2.1 and Warp 3.0 work properly with the Adaptec AHA-1542C and detect the SCSI CD-ROM. OS/2 2.0 boots correctly now but will not detect the CD-ROM drive (but for all I know that could have happened on real hardware too).

Re: [BUG] Solaris x86 2.6 boot hang

While Solaris 2.6 does work with the Trident TVGA8900 (and probably the ET4000 as well), it does reveal a flaw in the S3 graphics emulation:

Re: [BUG] Solaris x86 2.6 boot hang

The boot hang is now fixed as of the latest dev version (0c83cc0). With a Trident TVGA8900, Solaris 2.6 works quite nicely (albeit limited to 256 colors and a little slow).

Issue still occurs in latest dev version (04949da), tested with the same configuration as before and with the WinChip interpreter core as well.

Re: [BUG] NeXTSTEP/OPENSTEP install failure (SCSI)

Checked the latest dev version (04949da) and the issue still occurs. I tried NeXTSTEP 3.1 this time as well and it seems a little more verbose:

Early OS/2 hard disk formatting fails

IBM OS/2 1.0-1.2 and Microsoft OS/2 1.1c fail to format the hard disk during installation (it gives a "SYS1281: Track 0 cannot be formatted" error when I attempt to format manually from the OS/2 command line on the floppy.) There is a workaround: Format the hard drive from MS-DOS 3.31 and then conti...

I have had this happen on various emulated systems as well (If I remove SMARTDRV.EXE from AUTOEXEC.BAT, the issue doesn't seem to happen.)

Re: OS/2 2.0 installer hard resets after loading kernel

I tested the CD versions of OS/2 Warp 3.0 and I got the following results: Version 3.0 (Internal revision 8.162): Starts up and then pops up an error that it cannot find a CD-ROM drive (and I know this version supports ATAPI CD-ROMs because I used to run this version on a Toshiba laptop with an ATAP...

Re: OS/2 2.0 installer hard resets after loading kernel

OS/2 2.0 now installs successfully as of rev 301!

I'm sure all of the versions will run in PCem soon enough (OS/2 is probably one of the best CPU emulation conformance tests that exist)

Re: OS/2 2.0 installer hard resets after loading kernel

Since this seems to be a general OS/2 bug thread, I thought I should mention the other OS/2 bug that I have been experiencing: When the OS/2 1.0, 1.1 or (IBM) 1.2 installer attempts to format the hard drive, it fails but doesn't give me very much information. There is a workaround for this bug and t...

Re: OS/2 2.0 installer hard resets after loading kernel

OS/2 2.0 still hard resets after the splash screen (after inserting disk 1) but the NPXEMLTR.DLL error in OS/2 2.1 is fixed.

edit: OS/2 2.1 successfully installed on the AMI 386 clone.

OS/2 2.0 installer hard resets after loading kernel

I decided to test OS/2 2.0 on PCem again (hg revision 296) and the emulated computer hard resets after the kernel starts (I get the prompt to insert disk 1 and the OS/2 splash screen shows up.) This has been happening with OS/2 2.0 since at least v9. If it helps, OS/2 2.1 also crashes if I am using ...

Re: NT4 could not logon after SP6a installed

SP4 introduced NTLMv2 authentication and some major changes to the cryptography and authentication code in NT 4. I have tested NT4 SP4 with the Intel 486DX4/100 and it is broken on that CPU as well.

Bug in switching CDs

I have noticed that when I try to use the "Eject" command from Windows 95 or eject/switch CDs with Daemon Tools (Which I use as the host CD-ROM), some strange things happen in the emulator: - In Windows NT 3.5x, the guest OS doesn't correctly detect the CD changing and shows the old disc's volume la...
