Re: Sound in NT 3.1 and 4

I can say for a fact that sound works on NT 3.1 and 4.0 - I did quite a bit of testing on the sound cards in PCem v16. On Windows NT 3.1 I would recommend using a Sound Blaster 2.0 (or a 16 if you have the necessary driver disk, which can be found with a Google search) and on 4.0 I would recommend a...

Re: Voodoo3 support in Future ?

PCem v16 is amazing and seems to have run almost everything I've thrown at it with only a handful of exceptions (mostly *really* picky early 90s exotic OSes like NeXTSTEP 3.1-3.2 and OS/2 2.0 Limited Availability, the latter of which is difficult on real hardware as well considering how timing-sensi...

[BUG] S3 Vision864/Trio64 "tripled" graphics in Solaris

In PCem v15 and v16-dev commit 6822f80, Solaris 2.5.1-8.0 display "tripled" graphics in 1024x768x8 mode and in other modes a section of the framebuffer is repeated over and over again. It almost appears as if the first 256k of the framebuffer is being repeated continuously. Screenshot from 2020-04-1...

Re: v16 compatibility & bug list (WIP)

The emulator crashes when changing resolution in Windows 98SE with a Matrox Mystique. I haven't installed any updated drivers yet, only DirectX 9.0c and I'm not sure if that updates the driver. Otherwise it's using the default driver that comes with 98 SE. Anything in pcem.log? (On Windows it will ...

[BUG] Mandrake Linux 5.x hangs after mouse probe

Re: [BUG] NeXTSTEP/OPENSTEP install failure (SCSI)

I have just tested NeXTSTEP 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 in v16-dev commit 6e158be and the issue still occurs. 4.2 is likely affected as well but has better ATAPI support than 3.x and does work with an IDE system.

@omarsis81 I did not as my real 386DX/33 (which has an Adaptec 1542 and a SCSI CD-ROM) is dedicated to games at the moment and my P166's video card is too new. [RESOLVED] Windows NT 3.1 fails to install

In PCem-dev commit 6e158be (and I'm quite sure this happened in v14 as well), Windows NT 3.1 refuses to install on what should be a supported system (this OS is infamous for a very paranoid CPU detection routine that required workarounds to install the OS in Virtual PC.) Re: [BUG] Dell Unix panics while extracting files

The issue seems to be frequent but not super-consistent in v15/v16-dev commits 6bd1c70 and 6e158be as while the kernel panics occur a lot, it will sometimes work and I can complete an install. I have performed some additional tests with v14 (all base system only installs as the issue, when it occurs...

Re: [BUG] IBM ESDI Fixed Disk controller not working on PS/2s

Try injecting the three ADF files I have attached into your reference disk: @DDFF.ADF and CDDFF.ADF are for the ESDI adapter (I get a feeling the 486 models had SCSI and/or IDE as a standard feature and hence the ref disk didn't include the ESDI ADFs) @5103.ADF is for the SBPro MCV (as this was a th...

Re: [BUG] RedHat Linux 3.0.3 (kernel 1.2.13) crashes during startup

I have done some more testing and it seems all 2.0.x (and earlier) kernels are affected while all 2.2 kernels are not affected. The issue occurs on kernels as new as 2.0.37 (Slackware 3.9) but not on 2.2.5 (RedHat 6.0) or later 2.2 kernels. Kernel 2.4.3 (Mandrake Linux 8.0) is also unaffected.

Re: [BUG] RedHat Linux 3.0.3 (kernel 1.2.13) crashes during startup

I still need to test some newer versions but this issue seems to affect kernels from 0.98.pl1-36 (used in Softlanding Linux 0.98) to at least 2.0.18 (RedHat 4.0) with what I've tested so far.
