Re: I don't think KEYB SP is working right...

I'm just loading KEYB SP at the end of my AUTOEXEC.BAT, but that used to suffice on the old days.

I don't think KEYB SP is working right...

I regularly use several DOS machines, and I just realised the symbols no longer match my keyboard's, despite having loaded KEYB SP. I don't think i had this issue with v14, but I'm not sure. Can anyone reproduce this?

Not really. I just thought you could swing either way.

Re: Can we have a PCem BIOS datfile?

I have to admit it, I've seen unofficial datfiles for PCem in other boards. And any reaction from Sarah Walker would be understandable. From "let the others build them and use them at their own risk" to "If it's already done, let me at least do it properly." BTW, don't ask me about datfiles or URLs....

Re: Can we have a PCem BIOS datfile?

Depends. Some emulators like FB Alpha have an option in their menus to create datfiles, which I find a great idea. However, I'd be equally happy with a datfile being made available with every new version of PCem.

Can we have a PCem BIOS datfile?

As PCem grows it's becoming harder for me to keep track of all the necessary BIOS and other files required to run it. It doesn't help that I've been updating every new release on top of the previous ones. My question is, what about adding the option to PCem to create a datfile for ClrMAMEPro and / o...

Can you remember what machine you used to test the HIC? That could save me a lot of testing.

Help with Hercules InColor emulation.

Since I heard "Karateka" has support for this card I've been wanting to give it a try. However, I've come into a few obstacles. 1) What machine works reasonably well with this card? I've tried a few of the older ones, but either they come with in-built video cards or the BIOS doesn't seem to recogni...

There you go: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=60848

It covers fairly basic stuff, but since it is a step to step guide it may be of help for newbies.

I understand. However, I don't have my own place. Sorry about that.

EDIT: Would VOGONS be acceptable? I'm thinking of posting the guide there as well.

Re: Are ISO+OGG (or similar) CD-ROM images supported?

I think we're deviating a little from the original topic... is OGG audio decompression possible -or desirable- to be added in PCem? No matter if ISO+OGG is faulty as a game preservation process, I'd still like to use all those dumps I made for DOSBox with PCem.

Re: Are ISO+OGG (or similar) CD-ROM images supported?

I did once try to make myself ogg images (for similar massive space saving reasons) and they never seemed to work with DOSBox The only method that seems to work for me is 1) Ripping the CD with TurboRip, a freware program designed with PC Engine CD games in mind. 2) Compress the audio tracks from W...

Are ISO+OGG (or similar) CD-ROM images supported?

I'm asking because I own a huge collection of those. I made them to save harddisk space and to use them with DOSBox. These images usually consist of a BIN / ISO file for the data and one or more OGG files for the compressed audio tracks, plus a CUE file describing the order, duration and filenames f...

I guess you're right. I was just surprised than none of the options I tried did work. I'll stick to AWE32 emulation under DOS.

Re: The System16 System Emulator video.

To be honest, I couldn't get it to work with other video cards (Allegro exit error). However, editing SYSTEM16.INI and replacing the res with 640x480 + Eagle filter does work. The downside of this is that then the emu is way to slow (14 FPS on my system) to be worthwhile.

The System16 System Emulator video.

One of my goals when I started using PCem was to use again this fantastic arcade emulator. However, I can't get it to work properly yet. The first problem is that it exits with an allegro error with most video cards, something I'm not entirely sure it's accurate. I got it to work with the following ...

Re: Sound Blaster volume and other newbie questions

Thanks for the quick answers. As for the SB16 drivers, I think I first used the "Sound Blaster Basic Disk for DOS/Windows 3.1 SDR-31STD-1-US (Revision 1)". They're available at VOGONS, which keeps a libray of old sound / video drivers for those who need them. The install was smooth, but there were s...

Re: Host machine survey

Desktop:

- Gigabyte 970A-DS3P motherboard

- AMD Athlon II X4 640 (3 Ghz. x 4 cores)

- 4 Gb. RAM

- Windows 10

- NVIDIA GTX 650

Systems up to 486DX2 computers work fine, Pentium emulation seems to need more horsepower to achieve constant framerates.

Sound Blaster volume and other newbie questions

Newbie here. Well, amateur, since I've been using PCem for a while now and set up a few systems. My main question here is the Sound Blaster volume. It is so low by default! I've tried using the MIXERSET program that comes with the drivers, but it still keeps sounding much lower than my Windows 10 se...
