Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: MichaelJManley taking over as PCem maintainer

Fantastic news! Not that PCem needs much more IMHO. There's better PC Booter compatibility, and... No, that's all.

Trouble with DOS and 1 Gb. harrdrive.

One of my favorite machines to use with PCem is a 486/66 with 1 Gb. and DOS 6.22. However, I recetly realised my 1 Gb. harddrive is running out of space, and not for the usual reasons. It seems to me that I can't set up more that 500 Mb. of space. It's weird, because I thought the limit for this ver...

Re: Thank You SarahWalker for PCem

Hell yeah! I still use DOSBox for the more demanding games, but recreating my first PC system in such detail almost brought me to tears. Not to mention the possibility of recreating machines like the Tandy 1000, the Amstrad PC or the IBM PS/1, custom desktop included.

PCem rocks.

Very cool. I have a newbie question, though. Does the FPU for 386 / 486 computers affect in any way the gaming experience?

Re: v16 compatibility & bug list (WIP)

As already mentioned in this thread, The System 16 Emulator somehow stopped working on v16. Not that many people probably use it, but it could be an indicative of something not working right. On the other hand, now Lotus: The...

The System 16 emulator just stopped working on v16

OK, I know. Lots of changes with every new PCem version and most of them are for the better. This said, I like to run this old Sega System 16 emulator with PCem and just noticed it stopped working, so I thought I should report it. I use to run it with this setup: - Pentium 166 CPU - 64 Mb. RAM - S3 ...

The problem seems to have solved itself... I updated the roms, it looks like I was missing some XTIDE roms.

Tandy 1000 harddrive troubles.

I have a harddrive image for my Tandy 1000 profile, one that I set up with a previous version of PCem. It was 20 Mb. in size and I installed DOS 5.0 and some version of Deskmate. However, it no longer works. Whenever I try to boot it up it complains that it can't find an OS. I've tried to reinstall ...

Re: A more powerful Tandy profile, please?

There's an old Tandy emulator for DOS called Tand-Em. I think it includes utilities for dumping your Tandy firmware, but the format will likely different from PCem.

Re: A more powerful Tandy profile, please?

OK. Then so far we have two Tandy 286 models which retained the Tandy graphics and sound: - Tandy 1000 TX - Tandy 1000 TL/3 Both would be good candidates for emulation. BTW, the Tandy 1000 are not fully compatible with the IBM PCjr. They have the same architecture, but it's handled differently. See ...

Re: A more powerful Tandy profile, please?

I'm more interested in Tandy graphics than Tandy sound, but that info is still very interesting. It means there could a reason to emulate the 2500 SX as well as the 1000 TX.

Re: A more powerful Tandy profile, please?

According to Wikipedia, "The [Tandy 1000] RL and RL/HD featured a surface-mounted 9.54 MHz 8086 processor". Further models (1000 RLX, 1000 RSX) had 80286 and 80386 CPUs, but by then the Tandy propietary graphics had been changed to an AcuMos 512 Kb. VGA or an AcuMos SVGA. Which means the P...

A more powerful Tandy profile, please?

I really like that PCem emulates the Tandy computers, but right now the only profiles available are for the Tandy 1000 and the Tandy 1000 HX, with a CPU of 8088/16 tops. That's enough for many Tandy compatible games, but not for the latest games with Tandy support, like "Chuck Yeager's Air Comb...

NASCAR Racing 2 + Grand National Series Expansion Pack shows glitches, especially visible whenever dirt / smoke are present. Regular NASCAR Racing 2 will probably have them, I'll check later. Game is running under guest Pentium 166, S3 ViRGE DX, 64 Mb RAM and DOS 6.22. https://i.imgur.com/CR3pN7j.pn...

I don't think KEYB SP is working right...

I regularly use several DOS machines, and I just realised the symbols no longer match my keyboard's, despite having loaded KEYB SP. I don't think i had this issue with v14, but I'm not sure. Can anyone reproduce this?

I have to admit it, I've seen unofficial datfiles for PCem in other boards. And any reaction from Sarah Walker would be understandable. From "let the others build them and use them at their own risk" to "If it's already done, let me at least do it properly." BTW, don't ask me abo...

Re: Can we have a PCem BIOS datfile?

Depends. Some emulators like FB Alpha have an option in their menus to create datfiles, which I find a great idea. However, I'd be equally happy with a datfile being made available with every new version of PCem.

Can we have a PCem BIOS datfile?

As PCem grows it's becoming harder for me to keep track of all the necessary BIOS and other files required to run it. It doesn't help that I've been updating every new release on top of the previous ones. My question is, what about adding the option to PCem to create a datfile for ClrMAMEPro and / o...

Since I heard "Karateka" has support for this card I've been wanting to give it a try. However, I've come into a few obstacles. 1) What machine works reasonably well with this card? I've tried a few of the older ones, but either they come with in-built video cards or the BIOS doesn't seem ...
