Re: PCEM on Raspberry Pi 3 & 4
Hi guys, sorry for changing thread slightly, but if p4 was able to get that performance, then sd888 surely can do pentium 100 on its fastest thread, am i wrong? Just asking

Hi Guys , I think it is great idea, great in the way, as PCem really is an perfect emulator , to preserve. With one click, a person could actually see, how the machine look like back in the day

Re: What computer processor to emulate pentium mmx and up with PCem well?
Thank You Sarah, You right it isnt that simple, i was just hoping that it will be possible to implement such thing in PCem :( and i was not thinking about exact level of performance , but rather closer to p3 400-500mhz and not very accurate but only to execute well all instructions ,as of anything s...

Re: What computer processor to emulate pentium mmx and up with PCem well?
hmm, with all those new CPUs i see none of them have single thread, or dual etc. i was just wonderig, slightly off topic, if x86 backwards compatibility has never been broken and ISA instructions used long time ago are still there and can be executed, so? why not use one thread as a CPU and slow thi...

Re: Possiblity of implementing cache emulation
"Why? There is no speed gain from it"? its not about the speed gain, it is about behaviour, to slow dawn or speedup to match original. And i also think it would be nice to have it, but although i am not a programmer i can see now that it would be a lot of work, will also eat lots of resour...

Re: Possiblity of implementing cache emulation
ppgrainbow, it might be not feasible to put it to PCem, but its not a joke, there always was hudge performance impact where ex. celeron 300 and 300a with difference in L1cache speed. pentium 1 and MMX also did vary with L1 cache and speed difference was also not small at all.

abk4523 , strange, did you do make partition on newly created disk? anyway, i remember when i tried to do same thing i get wrong ms-dos version error, and setup never proceed, so i did download dos 6.22 alone and it worked, but you can find win95 bot floppies on site called winworldpc (no link due t...

abk4523 , with sluttering make sure the emulated mashine speed is 100% or so, if you will have 95% or so, and lower then sound will slutter.

Re: No sound in V15
no, i mean select sound blaster 16 as a audio hardware in PCem and let win98/95 find drivers automatically. if windows will not prompt or search for drivers automatically after you add this sound card, then you can do search for new hardware manually, from control panel. both win 95 nad 98 have thes...

i think every file in home dir with any user settings is hidden with the dot at front in linux, just to make clear interfece for end user, most of users have no need to alter them. except installing PCem only b cause Roms are not free due to most stupid law i ever seen, and are not installed automat...

Re: Another No Roms Present thread
leilei is right, but you also said your rom is in "/roms/genxt" ? in windows it will be in PCem folder but in linux there is folder in Your HOME directory created automatically after PCem starts, it is hidden folder called .pcem , so from your perspective it should be in /home/(username)/....

i think that first i did find some sdl2-devel in this gui manager, dragora or so, then i saw that it is not installed, wtf? so i did manually by yum and it worked, fedora is strange.

Re: Make crashing in Fedora 29
install sdl2 developement files, i just had same error on fedora 29 live stick, configure does not bother to scream much about it, dont know the exact name, so do : yum search sdl2 , and you will find exact file, then just : yum install sdl2...... and it should work.

Re: Linux Hosts: A few general questions
abk4523 , uhh, that was just joke/thought, there is nothing wrong with win 98 it works great with PCem, PCem has no gpu to support dx8 and dx9 as far as i know, and dx9c is last ver. that works with win98. That is just a wish for far future, irrelevant, for now PCem beats every known emulator, there...

Re: [OT-ish] fitting Linux distros?
as far as i find out las mesa with 3dfx drivers is 7.11 from 2011. so the latest wont work with voodoo.
PS. antix 16 worked well on v14, i had it on p120mmx 256mb ram. i dont think Clear linux will run, if it has 32bit distro then it is surely pae and needs cmov.

Zorix , i have the same on linux 64bit , v14 does it to, but in v14 it jumps more or less to 40-100% on my hardware, but yeah v15 can drop to 4% and it is exactely as You said, i noticed this now after i read Your comment. With image in CD it is all ok.

i managed to compile it on vbox in 32bit linux and it compiles fine. i had again same errors trying to run cpu with recompiler, but i took this 32bit build and run it on 64bit os, and it feels amazing, it does strangely go from 100 to 80 constantly every half second, dont know why all these problems...
