Re: How rip or save BIOS from PCs?

To dump my video BIOS I used this method ripsaw8080 posted here: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=407930#p407930 You can dump a video BIOS image using DEBUG.EXE included with DOS, just run it and enter these commands: r cs c000 r cx 8000 n video.rom w 0 q The majority of ISA video cards will h...

Re: [Bug] Window size changes when leaving fullscreen

You're right, xpclient. In v15 with this trick works fine but in v17 it does not.

At least, if you set the file to "read only" you could restart PCem and the window restores it's position. But if you try to enter and exit fullscreen several times, this is very inconvenient.

Re: [Bug] Window size changes when leaving fullscreen

No, Pcem writes this file on exit. You have to leave it as read only to prevent PCem frrom modify it. First, run PCem and change any option you like in Video, Sound and Misc menus. Then exit PCem and change window_* in pcem.cfg and set the file to read only. Run the program again to see if it's at t...

Re: [Bug] Window size changes when leaving fullscreen

This was discussed here:
http://pcem-emulator.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=10337

One workaround: edit window_* in pcem.cfg and set the file to read only.

According to JosepMa, it seems to only happen in the released version.

MotoRacer (16:9 mode) and MDK use black borders with 4:3 resolutions.

Games with support for 640x350 EGA mode with 16 colors (almost 16:9 ratio) like the original SimCity.

Re: Minor bugs

I believe that's because DVD-ROM is not yet emulated in PCem Well, it does work with host drive (real or emulated). It doesn't work with load ISO option. If relative paths ever worked, it was only by accident. This has never been supported. You're right. It only worked by manually editing the cfg f...

Re: PCem requests for a Win9x Project

For my project to maintain its current build standards, it has to be portable. Which means not relying on third party software that requires a manual install (eg: daemon tools). DOSBox handles this by taking all mountable images up front, and then switching through them via a hotkey (ctrl-f4). It w...

Re: PCem requests for a Win9x Project

Good idea, but I don't think I'm understanding how it may work. Let's say we have a C dynamic partition with only Windows 9x and then another partition where a specific game is installed? If that's the case, then we'd need at least two images for each game. One for the CD-ROM image, and another for...

Re: Host machine survey

It is possible to include the fastest virtual CPU that is possible to emulate with the physical one? Or include a FAQ or pin a post with this information.

Mine is i5-3210M (2 cores / 4 threads at 2.5 GHz) and I am able to emulate up to Pentium@75 at almost full speed.

[Request] Visual Player 2.0 SB16 support

Visual Player 2.0 was a MOD (Amiga module) player for DOS. Sound Blaster 16 support is broken (no sound is output). In DOSBox this issue was corrected in commit r3850 but no new stable version has been released since. Changes in DOSBox code can be seen here . Is possible to port this code into PCem?

Time synchronizing

I have noticed that time synchronize depends on the emulation speed. With a Pentium 75 (which I emulate at 100%) I get a 2-3 seconds delay from host, but with no increase. With a Pentium 200 (62% emulation speed) I get a 10 seconds delay increase every minute. Is this the expected behavior? I have t...

Re: v14 feature freeze end of Saturday 17th of March

I don't think it does. You're probably creating an image over some fragments. For me, it didn't take 2 minutes to make a 40gb today. what takes longer though is moving all those smaller images into the bigger ones since there's no real easy img-based tools to do so and WinImage drag-and-drop isn't ...

Re: v14 feature freeze end of Saturday 17th of March

Does the last commit speed up the creation of hard disk?

In PCem 10, in a 5400 rpm hdd, create a 2 GB disc takes 30 seconds, while in PCem v13 (since v11 i think) takes 2 minutes.

Creating new hard disc

PCem v10 seems to create a new hard disc much faster than newer versions.

In a 5400 rpm hdd, create a 2 GB disc takes 30 seconds, while in PCem v13 (since v11 i think) takes 2 minutes.

Is there any reason for this change?
