Option to set MIDI out device on SB16, AWE32 to None

Would it be possible to implement an option on the SB16 and AWE32 sound cards to set the MIDI out device to "None" instead of always selecting a MIDI device that is on the host PC, as well as not "grabbing" the host PC's MIDI device on startup?

Re: Possiblity of implementing cache emulation

Would it ever be possible to implement this in the future, when the CPU host resources aren't much of a problem, and with an option to select the old (current) behavior?

Possiblity of implementing cache emulation

Would an implementation of CPU cache and motherboard cache be possible, now that there is a new recompiler in PCem?

Re: Speed timings for emulated hard disks

Is that really a level accuracy we need? Most people aren't going to choose to emulate a terrible and slow old HDD over the modern 7200RPM unit or even SSD the HDD image is saved to. It will help with historical accuracy, as PCem has this already with CPU speeds, CD-ROM speeds and timings for video...

Speed timings for emulated hard disks

Would it be possible one day to implement a speed timing feature for the emulated hard disks similar to the speed selection for CD-ROM drives and the timings for video cards? For example, this page on CNET shows the rotational speed, seek time and data transfer rate (and other useful information for...

Video BIOS messages not showing up on startup before BIOS POST screen

I have noticed that in PCem versions before 13, (up to PCem v12) if a graphics card had a startup message in its ROM, it would appear for a few seconds before the motherboard BIOS POST screen appears. From PCem v13 onwards, the graphics card startup messages in its ROM still appear, but they appear ...

Re: AudioPCI impressions

The crackling does not appear to be game related, I have also heard the crackling on all programs that utilize MIDI playback.

Also, the digital sound no longer works on DOS Miles Sound System based games, and detecting the card in such a game fails, followed by a very high pitched whine.

Re: AudioPCI impressions

After further research and testing, I have found out that changing the emulated CPU speed partially fixes the audio problems that I have previously mentioned. Previously I tested it with a Pentium 75, and then I tested it with a Pentium 133, and most of the audio problems are gone. Is it possible to...

What date of the drivers? I used the 2002 VXD ones (CTPCI9X.VXD 1/31/02).
The drivers that I am using are from 1999 (SBPCI.VXD and SBPCI9X.DRV have a date of 10/19/1999)

Cannot reproduce these crackles. What audiopci drivers? Are you using 13.1 release instead of the latest tree?
I am using the latest tree of PCem, and I am using the VXD AudioPCI drivers. (the Creative-designed drivers with SB16 emulation)

Re: AudioPCI impressions

I have attached a link to audio samples of static, popping and crackling issues that occur in a Windows DOS Box and in Real Mode DOS with this sound card. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Z0QdUEpXb-fz-u0rpMhQ3EFEt8UNaCwW The crackling in Real Mode DOS occurs after playing a MIDI and leaving it for ...

Re: [Request] Sound Blaster Live! Support

@JosepMa: The drivers do include default programs (such as the Sound Blaster Live! Experience and the SB16 Emulation Driver for DOS, among others), and some drivers may only detect OEM cards, so I would recommend that a retail card model number (such as CT4620 ,CT4760, CT4670 or SB0060) be emulated ...

Re: [Request] Sound Blaster Live! Support

The soundblaster AWE32 and AWE64 use the EMU8000 chip for wavetable synthesis. The soundblaster Live uses the EMU10K1 chip. I did a quick google search and there might be some information online and examples on how to operate it, but I don't have first-hand experience with that one. Actually, there...

Re: SB16 MIDI in Windows ME

Windows ME's support for DOS applications is rather shaky compared to Windows 95 or 98 (and it does not have support for Real Mode DOS), so I would recommend you use either Windows 95 or 98 for using DOS applications, as they both have support for Real Mode DOS and DOS box support.

Would it be possible to have Sound Blaster Live! emulation in PCem?

Since there is AWE32 support already (albeit with missing reverb and chorus), how much work would be required to implement it, and would it also have the same missing features as the AWE32 if it were to be implemented?

This occurs in both Windows and DOS. Is there any fix for this?
