Re: Most of my PCem systems wont boot up anymore

I remember having similar issues from time to time in the past.
Usually I would solve them by refreshing the nvr directory: delete it's contents, download a fresh copy of pcem (same version as what you already use) and restore the nvr files from that.

Re: Host machine survey

Host machine: Asus TUF A15 FA506IU with a Ryzen 7 4800H CPU I was able to get a constant 99%-100% speed with this configuration - seems to be the fastest I can get without any drops in speed: FIC VA-503+ / Pentium MMX 300 / 64 MB Ram / Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 Voodoo Graphics in SLI with 4Mb Frame-bu...

Re: Needing help installing mouse and CDROM drivers in Win95 dos mode

Ran a quick test on a Win95 VM and this is what needs to be done: EMM386.EXE and HIMEM.SYS are already present in the Windows directory so you just need to copy the following files to C:\WINDOWS: Memmaker.exe, Memmaker.hlp, Memmaker.inf, Sizer.exe, and Chkstate.sys After that run MEMMAKER from the C...

Re: Needing help installing mouse and CDROM drivers in Win95 dos mode

That's a self extracting archive. You need to extract it's content. 1. Create a directory on the C drive and copy that file there (e.g. C:\OLDDOS for example). 2. In dos mode go to that directory and execute that file. That will extract it's contents within that directory. (e.g. CD C:\OLDDOS then ex...

Re: Needing help installing mouse and CDROM drivers in Win95 dos mode

Back in the old days I would use something called Memmaker - a tool that automatically tried to optimize DOS's config files to release more base memory. It was built in with DOS 6.22 and available separately for DOS 7/win9x). It was available on MS's old FTP site. The original ftp site is gone but t...

Re: Needing help installing mouse and CDROM drivers in Win95 dos mode

Something like this should work...I think:

config.sys

Code: Select all

DEVICEHIGH=C:\DRIVERS\oakcdrom.sys /D:CD
autoexec.bat

Code: Select all

LOADHIGH C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:CD /l:D
LOADHIGH C:\DRIVERS\ctmouse.exe

Re: New to windows 95 need help installing mouse and cd rom drivers for dos

You will need DOS drivers for these devices. DOS doesn't support these devices by itself. The cdrom driver can be exacted from any windows 98 boot disk like this one: http://www.allbootdisks.com/downloads/Disks/Windows_98_Boot_Disk_Download49/Diskette%20Images/Windows98_SE.img Attach the floppy imag...

Re: Windows 2000 setup error

This was a known issue back when this OS was popular. The floppy images themselves are the problem. When SP4 is slipstreamed/integrated into a vanilla Win 2000 disk those images are either damaged or not updated at all. Only the files in the I386 directory are updated. Just to be sure I also tested ...

Re: Guide to getting networking working?

Are you referring to the driver for "NE2000 Compatible"? It's included in Windows (at least since Win 95 OSR2, that's the earliest version of Windows I played with) I just ran the "Add New Hardware" applet from Control Panel, I let it finish the scan and it detected and installed...

Re: Guide to getting networking working?

I think the driver you are looking for is "NE2000 Compatible" and should be available in Windows. Since the emulated card it's not PNP aware it must be added and configured manually (irq, address, etc.) I got it working using the PCAP method, SLIRP never worked for me. This is how I got it...

Re: Trying to get networking to work...

I managed to get it working after I found the IRQ and Address settings in PCem and set them manually within the Win95 machine.

Manual resource allocation...brings back memories from 18 years ago...

Nice work Sarah & co. This release is the best yet.

Re: Trying to get networking to work...

I tried using that version too.

I installed npcap with WinPcap compatibility options turned on (otherwise no network card would appear in PCem) and still didn't work.

Trying to get networking to work...

I've been trying to get PCem's (13) networking to work but I haven't had any success so far. I tried using both the SLiRP and PCAP options. For PCAP I made sure I selected my real Ethernet card in the "Network device" field. I tried using dynamic and static IP addresses, turned off the fir...

Pcem crashes when I minimize it's window

Hello, if I set the Video mode to "Direct 3D" the emulator crashes (closes itself) when I minimize it's window. Direct Draw works perfectly, no crashes. When this happens the pclog.txt file appears and it contains only this line: LockRect failed I'm using Pcem v12 downloaded from the home ...

Confirmation dialog when closing the PCem window?
