No, BASF simply got the labeling wrong. Sometimes the simple answer is the correct one!

xXLuckyXx's ban should come as no surprise to anyone at this point.

Locking this thread as it has gone wildly off topic - this was supposed to be compatibility testing prior to the v14 release.

Oh - and anyone who thinks feminism is a bad thing can frankly fuck right off.

Re: v14 compatibility & bug list (WIP)

Bye then! For those still here , I don't work to deadlines or give out release dates - this isn't a job, and if I did feel like giving out dates they'd probably be incredibly inaccurate anyway. However, since it was specifically asked, no I don't think there'll be another release this year; the new ...

Re: ROM partially overlaid with RAM?

PCem memory mapping has a 16kb granularity, so as you've discovered mapping less than that is non trivial. You're mostly there though - have sigma_bread/write forward accesses in C0000-C17FF to ROM, and pass a pointer to the ROM to the exec parameter of mem_mapping_add() to fix the getpccache issues...

My vote would be for Unreal Tournament, though I appreciate that would require a meatier host machine than something like Doom.

Re: Windows 98 SE audio lag

Is the percentage in the title bar below 100%? If it is then your host machine isn't fast enough for the system you're trying to emulate. Drop the CPU speed until it is at 100%.

PCem doesn't emulate a Pentium 2 btw, so not sure what you're trying to emulate...

Re: Would like to add my own ROMs to PCem for personal use.

You're looking _much_ too recent. The most recent CPUs supported are the Pentium MMX and Cyrix 6x86MX, both from 1997. Most recent chipsets and graphics cards are of similar vintage.

Re: Donations?

I've tried accepting donations in the past on another project (RPCemu). My experience was that it just put pressure on me to force myself to work on the project when I was burnt out, or otherwise not in a state to work on it. That's something I really don't want to happen again.

Re: Is drive sound emulation possible?

I'm tempted to suggest that you add the sound that a real drive makes when its bearings finally wear out. Or the sound that old capacitors make when they finally burst and explode. Having had an old capacitor explode and hit me in the forehead recently, I suspect this has a high chance of triggerin...

Re: Is drive sound emulation possible?

That's a noisy hard drive you have there. The speed variation sounds pretty good to me. For floppy stuff, it might be (well, probably is ) worth looking at what I did for B-em, of which you've already found vestigial references. Code is at https://github.com/stardot/b-em/blob/master/src/ddnoise.c (u...

Re: Emulating an Amstrad PC5286

640kb conventional + 384kb XMS looks right for a 1 MB machine. I don't know if the PC5286 enabled Shadow RAM or not; disabling it will give you more RAM, but run the machine a bit slower. If you were to get a real machine, you can dump the BIOS through DEBUG.EXE. The following commands should dump t...

This isn't currently implemented, but has been on my list for a while. Much of the infrastructure for floppy drive sound emulation is already present, I just haven't got round to finishing it off.

Could this be due to missing bios systems (i.e. nobody has dumped a PC5286, etc.)
Basically this - if the BIOS hasn't been dumped then it can't be emulated. I'd be interested in emulating these systems, though due to other commitments it would probably be some time before I could look at them.

3D lines aren't currently emulated because I never saw any software trying to use them. If you want to work on a patch to add them then feel free! If we can identify the nature of the erratic 2D line rendering then it should be emulated, yes. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a hardware bug; someth...

Re: VGA Pixel panning registers

Yep, there's a bug. PCem isn't forcing a screen refresh on writes to the per-pixel scroll register (0x3c0 index 0x13/0x33), which is only obvious if the start address isn't changed and there are no writes to video memory that frame. The fix should be fairly trivial...

Fenix77 only joined last September, so wasn't around for the original nightmare. So it's not unreasonable for him to not be aware of any of this. But in general, the entire 'fork' experience was very unpleasant, and there's a reason everyone involved (with the exception of SA1988, who has been reaso...

Performance won't be brilliant, the 8550u only runs at 1.8 GHz. I'd guess around Pentium 90 or so would be about as fast as you could get.
