Re: Toshiba T1200 emulation

-FreeDOS Edit and MEM external command locks the system. The only solution it's reboot (works on Thoshiba DOS 3.3) -4DOS version 2.21 (Sharware 1989, it's not the freeware 4DOS 8.00) 4dos88.exe works but 4dos.com lock's up the system too. (works on Thoshiba DOS 3.3 and uses 64kb of EMS if it's avai...

Re: Math coprocessor funkiness/bugs?

I'll have a look - I'm aware there are still FPU bugs remaining. In general though, my view is that PCem's FPU emulation is for 'entertainment purposes only' - good enough for games, not for anything that relies on eg full 80-bit accuracy or strict IEEE compliance. Spreadsheets are one of the areas ...

Re: Urgent. Wanted Dell "System 200" keyboard controller firmware

Sorry, I was going to look this wasn't I? I've just had a look through my chips and I couldn't find a System 200 keyboard controller - I found the BIOS ROMs but that's it I'm afraid! Stupid question, but have you tried swapping in a different keyboard controller from another board? From memory AT ke...

What renderer are you using (Settings->Render driver)? That's the only thing that is likely to cause a performance regression - for just about everyone else v13.x is faster than v12...

I'm planning v14 to be a relatively quick release around April time, mainly just bugfixes but with a few new features.

I'm not seeing any lockups here. I made some locking changes very late in v13 development (11th December), have you reproduced the lockups since then?

Re: Execution rate at DOS prompt, menus, etc.

Not to be rude, but could you wait until I've done the recompiler rework before making more suggestions? I am aware of the problems with it, and already know that the solutions are not simple, which is why I'm going to spend most of the year reworking it! The Win9x shutdown screen has the same perfo...

Re: Anyone can point me to the good direction? Trying to emulate a IBM PS/2 55SX

You need to have the ROM files for IBM's ESDI adapter to allow it to be selected - 90x8969.bin and 90x8970.bin. To inject the ADF files you need to use something like WinImage to open the reference disk image and replace the relevant files with the versions you've downloaded. I haven't actually trie...

Are you running with the dynamic recompiler enabled? There are definitely some odd issues with using that with lower speed 486s.

Re: DELL System 200 (and others) HIMEM.SYS (MS-DOS 5.0+) GATE A20 ERROR

It's possible (though unlikely) that I may still have the keyboard controller from the System 200 board I used to own. I won't be able to look for it until the new year though. If I do still have it I'm happy to let you have it.

Re: CDROM on older machines

I don't see the disagreement here. Most Pentium and later motherboards had 2 IDE ports for 4 IDE devices, most 486 and earlier had either no IDE ports on the motherboard, and used an IO card with 1 IDE port and _occasionally_ 2, or had 1 or _occasionally_ 2 ports on the motherboard. That's basically...

Re: CDROM on older machines

PCem always emulates two IDE controllers. The secondary won't be used by the BIOS in older machines, but CD-ROM drivers can still access it. This was a real setup available back in the day - many sound cards (eg SB16) came with an IDE port which could be used for CD-ROM.

Re: v13 released!

I don't have any plans to emulate nVidia stuff. Banshee/Voodoo 3 are fairly likely, along with the new recompiler. Though I'm toying with doing a smaller v14 release early in the year, with the new recompiler coming in v15 towards the end of the year. Haven't made any decision on that yet though.

Re: Pre-v13WIP compat list

Yeah, it's just bugs. It's a relatively complex card to emulate, so there's likely to be various bugs/omissions/mistakes/typos - particularly in rarely used features or combinations of features.

Not feasible for PCem's purposes I'm afraid. PCem needs to generate object code directly for the host CPU on the fly for performance reasons.

Re: Status of Assembly?

You could probably hack the emulator to remove any references to any of the recompilers, which _might_ get it running on ARM (assuming there aren't any other issues there). Performance would be absolutely dreadful though. One of my aims with the new recompiler is to make is easier to port to other a...
