Re: suitable machie to emulate Pentium II 500Mhz + Voodoo 3 3000

My Ryzen 5600X is more or less fullspeed a lot of the time. But as others have said, there is currently a problem with the dynarec, and you will get severe slowdown in some places (like booting Windows) no matter what you do. Also some games Soldier of Fortune lowers the emulation speed on a P2/233...

Re: suitable machie to emulate Pentium II 500Mhz + Voodoo 3 3000

On my machine, an emulated Pentium II 450 can run Jedi Knight and Episode 1 Racer at 100% in-game, but not while running in-game menus, video cutscenes or Windows itself. Only the in-game performance on those 2 games work at 100%. It should be noted that apparently there is a compatibility issue wi...

Accessing the floppy drive with a blank disc image in it to format it and "burn" files is extermely slow in Windows 98SE.

Emulation speed remains 100% but it hangs for an extended period of time after every action

Floppy Access Slow in Windows 98

Does anyone else have an issue where accessing a floppy disc, specifically a blank image to copy files onto is slow in Windows 98?

Like the emulation remains full speed, but the OS itself is insanely laggy opening it and then opening the format dialog. There's also some visual bugs involved.

I never done it, but I guess you have to download the source code, replace the patch files and compile it. Here is a good guide: http://pcem-emulator.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=845 lol theres no .patch files in pcem source code and say more information You nerco'd a thread from 2019 that'...

Re: Outside of VMworkstation (which has disorted sound) we don't have a fully working XP emulation yet.

There's been fixes for the Windows XP sound issues in VMWare for a while: https://github.com/Raymai97/VMAudioBack http://www.lilchips.com/vmaudiofixtray.htm It's very hit or miss in 3D Accelerated games because of not using true GPU passthrough, but I've been using VMWare to mess around in XP for a ...

Re: suitable machie to emulate Pentium II 500Mhz + Voodoo 3 3000

I have a 5600X that can hit like 4.5Ghz all core and even with hacky stuff going on like forcing SMT off via a batch file my system still chokes in the current version if I load a Pentium II 233Mhz to the absolutely max by doing something absurd like running a 3D game at the lowest res and detail po...

Re: A Hotkey to Change ISOs Would Be Nice

Every single other emulator for anything heavier than a Super Nintendo fully supports hardware acceleration so that is completely false. If the dev wanted to he could 100% find a way to make use of it. At the very least GPU emulation could be offloaded to it in order to free up resources for CPU em...

Re: A Hotkey to Change ISOs Would Be Nice

What does that mean a hard wall with single threaded performance of X86 CPU's? I mean we're reaching a point where unless a huge change-up happens with x86 architecture to improve power efficiency enough to start cranking clock speeds stupid high we're going to get less and less single core perform...

Re: A Hotkey to Change ISOs Would Be Nice

This forum has been through this "multi-thread" nonsense enough times already. Vulkan has nothing to do with CPU emulation; dolphin's CPU code is single-threaded, because GC/Wii games are single threaded, because GC/Wii are single core (No, the "Dual core" option does not split ...

Re: I just want to install Windows XP on this emulator

Windows XPs minimum CPU requirement is a 233Mhz CPU with a 300Mhz recommended. Swat 3 itself calls for a minimum CPU of a Pentium II 266Mhz. You're not getting anyway near that on a mobile i5 from 2010 when even my 5600X struggles to do a Pentium II 233Mhz at full torture load with performance enhan...

I must be a bit luckier here. I have had better success with getting a few titles up to dx9 running with VMWare. Though my library that I actually play is admittedly rather small. And open GL games have been much easier as well. Though it was still no match for having a dedicated machine for the ta...

=In which case, just use Virtual Box or VMWare Workstation. You can limit execution share and approximate the performance you want on Virtual Box.. About any of them that added Vulkan support have some level of multi-threading when using that API because AMD designed it to be well optimized for multi-core CPUs. Running Dolphin on a CPU with weak single core like an FX is night and day between DX and Vulkan. This forum has been through this &qu...

Currently, the only "workaround" is to have a reasonably fast Intel CPU. I own 12900 KF and I get no lag when running stuff with Quicktime content on an emulated Pentium II 333. Things will likely improve after switching to Qt and fixing dynarec regressions. It's good to hear the current ...

Re: Quicktime Content Makes a PII/233 Return a 1Ghz Clockspeed

Quick Time software/games really slow my PCEM down to almost a crawl so I have to dumb it WAY down where literally everything else works up to a Celeron for me. There's some kind of weird resource leak related to decoding video on the virtual CPU so all you can do use a slower CPU to play quicktime...

A Hotkey to Change ISOs Would Be Nice

I don't how easy this would be to implement, but it would be really nice if there was a hotkey to open a dialog to change CD images so you don't have to exit fullscreen to swap discs. Would be especially helpful for multiple CD games so you don't have you break the immersion factor when changing dis...

Yep

Discovered when having issues running the War in Heaven on a Voodoo 2 that even emulated the card goes nuts when you try and run a heavy game with a version of DX that doesn't match the installed driver. So latest VD2 driver + DX7 is the best combo.
