Re: PCem system requirements

Probably a Core i5 that's not too old at least. Aim for 4ghz Serious Sam however on a real PMMX machine it will be slow . That game really demands more of a Pentium III 700Mhz at least to be playable to the end (or more at a minimum, a P2 400), all targets that aren't feasible to emulate with curren...

You can't do 800x600 with Z on a 2mb framebuffer. Up that to 4mb.

Re: Tomb Raider II with voodoo2

It's not a PCem bug.

You'll have to configure Tomb Raider 2 to point to the Voodoo2 and not Primary Display Driver (in which it'll drop to software rendering otherwise), tick all the checkboxes, and then it'll look fine

On the double-sized blending dither argument I've noticed MAME's voodoo code does emulate it, at least for War Final Assault. Little clip of a flamethrower producing the overdraw necessary, sized up 300% bigdither.png MAME doesn't have the radial LOD bias or the screen filter though (and probably no...

I'm hearing crackles on CPU speeds that low (p75) on just a Sound Blaster 16 with F22 Lightning II (same sound system) so it could probably rule out the SBPCI. I just happened to try it on a fresh packard config testing run

430VX PMMX233 Win95C AWE32. I believe i'm using S3 Trio64 drivers provided by DirectX 6. I'm running this from Win95 (as I did then because I didn't use real-mode CD-ROM TSRs all that much to play from within DOS)

Desktop res is 800x600x16 and it's a 1MB Trio64 card

Re: noob question Sound Blaster 16 dos6.22/w3.11

Run the SB16 installation disks from dos starting from the first floppy and point it to your Windows folder when it asks. Then the next time you start Windows 3.1 it should immediately set up the card and add program groups.

Even with the Oct 99 driver I can only get Comache3 setup to mess up its sound by changing the sample rate option and testing. It'll crackle at 22khz, but also 11khz when you go up from 5khz. Backing out of the menu and going back in and testing doesn't crackle. it's also possibly real behavior i'd ...

I don't mind the merge.

Everything's a 430VX PMMX233 160mb w/ S3 Trio64 unless otherwise specified. I try to test two configs with W98SE SBPCI/V2 and W95C AWE32/VG variations. Single Voodoo2 only as I never had a SLI setup.

Even though it's way outside the scope, I was curious enough to boot some of the PC-based MAME chd dumps. Most of the ones that get far stop at the dongle and proprietary barely-documented arcade input/coinage/billing hardware, but that didn't stop me from trying. :) Eggs Playing Chicken (P133 w/ Tr...

Crackle's gone but there's some sound distortion. It's present on both non-WDM and WDM drivers and lowering the wave sound volume doesn't seem to fix it. Some games sound really bad with it, i.e. NFS2 whenever a tunnel's entered. though this did make me recall my early AWE64 distortion issues back i...

Plantronics ColorPlus (possibly others) affected by CGA colors setting

As Plantronics isn't configurable (yet) the way to turn off the CGA color settings (mono etc) isn't available. This can happen from loading a CGA machine in another config that has a mono colors setting and then loading a config with Plantronics ColorPlus configured.

Either are fine, unless your video chipset driver decides otherwise. YMMV. The OpenGL 3.0 backend in PCem has a shader system in addition in which it can work with GLSL shaders written for retroarch. This isn't available in the D3D backend (though it could be......if there was some niche interest in...

Re: 3DFX emulation

In early Voodoo2 testing I tried Unreal Tournament 2004 out of morbid curiosity. It works as expected (A Voodoo3 could run this a little better but that will still have major errors - this is a DX8.1 game that wants vertex shaders and as much multitexture combine as possible, and is beyond fixing an...
