well I have managed to install and run windows 95 and windows 95 games on PCem, if you want to play 3D game you will need to have a powerful CPU.
there are plenty of videos on youtube explaining how to install windows 95 or windows 98 on Pcem

Re: Settings Retention Issue in PCem V17
try running PCem as AdminAnthroAdman wrote: ↑Wed 17 Jan, 2024 5:52 pm I don't think it's that. When I go to set something (I generally emulate a 486-based setup with a cyrix or AMD), save the settings, and go back to check if they were properly saved, I always just end up at the default 8088 configuration.

Re: Alien Carnage configuration menu not responding!
solved! this is one of those cases the developers messed with players! you expect it to function like other games but it doesn't, you need to press the highlighted keys to configure the game, so for Sound Blaster you press S, for Music you press M, for Calibrate Joystick you press C etc. they could'...

Alien Carnage configuration menu not responding!
Hi, when I go to the configuration menu to set the sound and joystick the arrow keys do not work the only key that works is ESC that takes me back to the game menu, it happens with both the floppy version and the shareware version I downloaded from the publisher's website. I have 633kb of free conve...

update 2, apparently PCem's implementation of Voodoo 3 is not perfect the game worked fine on 86Box with no issues, this was the only game that refused to work on PCem other games work very well

Re: I need help with setting up a 486 DOS machine
On some of the autodetection boards you'll need to manually detect and configure a drive and then enable LBA or LARGE elsewhere to use larger drives. Earlier 486 boards likely won't have the choice. I prefer the AMI WinBIOS for socket 3 because that's what my VIP 486 was (though the emulated board ...

Re: I need help with setting up a 486 DOS machine
I ended up with an AMI WinBios 484 motherboard that was much less confusing to set up, I'll try what you said thanks. I did press F2 however I didn't who what to select as C drive! At one time I had a 486DX2 66 MHz with the same kind of BIOS. It's kinda my one my favorites in PCem. (Guess which is ...

Re: I need help with setting up a 486 DOS machine
At bootup press F2 to run the setup utility. Or configure the emulated PC to have a SCSI controller. You don't need to setup the hard drive in the BIOS if you have a SCSI controller. Boot times appear to be slower because of the SCSI BIOS and you probable need to run the setup utility to configure ...

Re: How do I use a 6 button controller in Windows 95/98se
I think you should enable DirectInput. Windows 95/98SE primarily relies on DirectInput for game controller support. Make sure that DirectInput is enabled in your system. You can do this by going to "Control Panel" > "System" > "Device Manager" > "Human Interface D...

Is it an emulated controller or a real one? I tested it with a real DirectInput controller that works fine with other types of controllers available on PCem and and emulated Xbox controller, the result is the same, I do not think this was the usual behavior of a Sidewinder controller to keep pressi...

Re: PCem's biggest limitation for 3D accelerted games
How should such platform look like? Does it need to be an emulator like PCem? Or could it be a compatibility layer like Wine or Proton? in my opinion we need new hardware supporting old platforms like Windows 95/98, powerful enough to plow through these games specially in software mode however I al...

PCem's biggest limitation for 3D accelerted games
PCem is fantastic when it comes to compatibility I mean what is more compatible with Windows 95 games than a Windows 95 machine? however it's limited to the era-appropriate hardware, I know getting high FPS on higher resolutions wasn't as big as what it is now but if we had an emulated GPU in PCem s...

Re: Gravis Gamepads emulation!
I understand that it can be confusing to map the buttons on different gamepads when using PCem. PCem is a retro PC emulator that aims to replicate the hardware and software of older computer systems, and it may not have the same user-friendly interface as modern emulators like QT PCSX2. Candy Crush...

I tried using the official and third party drivers at no avail I don't think it's a driver issue. this also happen...
