V13: --config command line option changed or not working?

Trying to run PCem from command line as I did with V12:

PCem.exe --config "..\configs\386-40.cfg" --fullscreen

Nothing happens, no error, just silent failure. Has anything changed due to the new configuration manager UI?

Re: Reshade

@szadycbr with that intel gpu don't even bother trying. @leilei, right - I see that pcem renders with bilinear filtering by default. I wouldn't say the results are truly horrendous... pce1.JPG pce3.JPG pce2.JPG ...but certainly not even close to what could be achieved. In fact, going about what you ...

Re: Reshade

@szadycbr - it's fairly obvious that pcem uses d3d only for blitting/compositing.. clearly my intent was using shaders for postprocessing, specifically crt emulation (as I, in fact, wrote) for me reshade 3.0 worked just fine with pcem using d3d9, full screen, and without any need to recall the confi...

Anyone tried Reshade (www.reshade.me) or other shader injectors with PCem? I gave it a try attempting to emulate my old CRT monitor. If someone else out there tried the same, perhaps we can share settings and shaders? (as for me I am still struggling to get a decent result)

Re: Commander Keen 4 keyboard stuck key problem

the commander keen 4 "key stuck" thing happened to me several times on a real dos machine back in the days. Could/should be a bug of the game rather than pcem.

Re: Is PCEm the only emulator of its kind?

I didn't write anywhere that Winuae's panel is nice. In fact, it's a rather incomprehensible mess. I also didn't mention mame as a reply to anyone, just as a mean of comparison to Pcem. My message was simply "PCem is architecturally awesome, deserves more press". That's all. (ps.: for the ...

Re: Is PCEm the only emulator of its kind?

But all of those have one difference to 90s PC: They don't have a million and a half hardware combos, made by dozens of different companies, almost all of which had dubious adherence to spec. Hope not to go too off-topic: well, actually if you have a look at the most recent Winuae, you'll see that ...

Re: Is PCEm the only emulator of its kind?

To keep it brief, contributing back to upstream is too much to ask for some people. I know i've had the same thing happen to my project with someone on a forum was PM'ing away potential contributors to join some now-dead fork mod instead. I was alone for years :( Right... at some point I even compi...

Re: PCEM seems to faster than real Hardware?

Frankly I seem to recall that all machines I had before the Pentium line, having highly fluctuating performances based on... no one knew what. Benchmarking software from those times, also provided sometimes wildly different results on the same exact machine. I even remember clearly when our school o...

Re: Is PCEm the only emulator of its kind?

So, to hark back to my opening post - I wonder how come pcem has so little coverage. Its architecture, accurate emulation, and overall uniqueness, deserve the same awareness of - say - Mame. Just my two cents. And of course, thanks again for this wonderful work of love and technology, Tom/Sarah, Bat...

I think someone should start another fork of pcem: pcem-legocreator.

Is PCEm the only emulator of its kind?

I originally came to know about PCEm following a Vogons thread which unceremoniously labeled it as "Another PC Emulator". But frankly, I can't seem to find a peer in terms of an architecture that allows for all the basic components of an X86 pc to be emulated separately, complete with BIOS...

Re: v10 released!

Great, thanks Tom! Can't wait to test it, however it will be a long struggle against the Great Firewall of China, where I live (almost impossible to download any large binary from abroad)

Any chance there is a "start in full screen" switch in this version, or an upcoming patch? ;)

Re: PCem, with support for command line?

I've been trying hard to compile a build (for my personal use only) with a few command line options added, but despite the GREAT help of Bloody (thanks a lot) I have clearly been out of "serious" development too many years, and spoiled by click-and-compile IDEs in the early 2000s. I hope I...

Re: Misc questions

Thanks, will try the two drives. As for "quit" I meant close the program, not go back to windowed. I knew the ctrl-alt-pgdown shortcut. Perhaps a ctrl-alt-something else to completely shut down the program would be useful. Being able to start up in fullscreen would be also extremely useful...

Re: VHD support

Used in VirtualBox, too, which is able to use them even as they are mounted under Windows - effectively creating the perfect way of swapping files from the virtual to the real environment and vice-versa.

Hope you'll give VHD a shot, Tom :)
