Re: VHD support

In case anyone in this thread missed it, I have updated my patch in the patches subforum to add support for dynamic VHD's Tested as much as I could, and encountered no issues. Fiddled with mounting the pcem-made VHD in Hyper-V machines, or even directly under Windows, and viceversa (VHDs made in Hy...

Re: VHD support

I have tested the newly implemented VHD support in how many scenarios as possible without a hitch. Old VHDs created under Virtualbox and Hyper-V were mounted and operated normally, and vice-versa PCem-made VHDs mount just fine everywhere else. Great thanks to Sherman, Sarah, and everyone who was inv...

Re: [Patch] Initial VHD support

Could this RFC-compliant function that appears in a few JS libraries be ported to C? Not that I have the palest idea of how regular expressions are handled in C, but this function seems to be abstract enough to me. function uuid() { return "xxxxxxxx-xxxx-4xxx-yxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx".replace(/[xy]/g, func...

Re: VHD support

That's alright, I've found a way of doing it using the method suggested here. Simple, and doesn't require compile time or run time checking. And since the only purpose is to read/write a one-time footer, performance is hardly an issue either. I think I've got the VHD footer reading working. The nex...

Re: VHD support

I didn't support the VHD format because I'd never heard of it! Just had a look at the specification, looks like the fixed size format shouldn't be too difficult to support. Sarah, I was wondering if you have given more consideration to this, as much as I know that the new dynarec will probably occu...

Aspect ratio lost on starting with --fullscreen parameter

just as per thread's subject: PCem 14 (but had the same problem with 13 and 12): Windows 10 x64 When when I start a machine, any machine, through a batch file or link which makes use of the --fullscreen parameter, the aspect ratio (4:3 in my case) setting isn't honored. Re: Strange shader manager problem

Oddly I get this bug with the release build from the site, but not in a self-made wx 3.0 gcc 4.7.2 build from the current revision. :S @Sarah: would it be a problem if leilei privately shared the unofficial, custom build with me (provided he wants to) to check whether it solves the problem or not? ...

Re: Strange shader manager problem

I just updated to v14, and I keep having the same problem. Since setting the parameters manually (editing config files) works, I'd guess it's a problem of whatever controls/widgets are used for the UI. Or, perhaps, a combination of those and what Windows version is in use (the problem for me happene...

With DOSBox @ 277 cycles I had enough time to take this snapshot:

win31splash.png
And yet, I never ever saw the splash screen being drawn from the bottom to the top.
Wild guess: different adapters = different drivers = different ways to access the framebuffer?

Re: Win3.x splash image appears too fast?

I remember clearly that it was very random: at times it would appear instantly, other times it would crawl almost line-by-line (Windows 3.11 for Workgroups, AMD 386 40mhz, Oak 77, circa 1992).

Once I switched to a Pentium 100, the line-by-line drawing never happened again.

I ran it on my i7 970 which is the same socket as your pc 6 cores 12 threads and it ran just fine. I even played a game of warcraft to on an emulated pentium 120mhz. as I said, this is not performance related. I can emulate a Pentium MMX 233 mhz t 100% speed. Re: hiccups with 0% cpu used (host) 0% speed in PCem

Are the hyper-v machines running when you use pcem? If so it will affect performance. Try running pcem with the hyper-v machines powered off. I have 12 logical cores, the machines take about 10% of a core each. Keeping Chrome open uses more cpu than that. Also as I mentioned, the problem is that pc...

Re: hiccups with 0% cpu used (host) 0% speed in PCem

Hah all right. I assumed that it wasn't the case due to using PCem on a not-so-common kind of hardware. Configs attached, let me know if anything else is needed. (I use shaders, which I didn't attach, but the problem happens with or without them, and with any of the renderers) Moreover: at some poin...

hiccups with 0% cpu used (host) 0% speed in PCem

One more observation of odd behavior. PCem suddenly and repeatedly freezes for 3-5 seconds. The emulation freezes, not the emulator itself, whose window remains responsive. This happens with very different machines. When these freezes happen, PCem reports a "0%" of emulated cpu speed. I expected a 1...

Strange shader manager problem

A picture, first: shader_1.JPG The shader manager became nonfunctional, presenting all variables as an unchangeable series of -0.0 values. It doesn't matter what shader it is. Any shader I add and try to configure, on any machine I pick, seems to have the same issue. I suspect it's something that ha...

Even test-sbp.exe, provided on the sbpro2 install disks, fails.

You can try also a couple games such as wolf3d or ultima 6.

Re: V13: --config command line option changed or not working?

Sorry I didn't get back to the thread first - this could be useful: it was a problem of relative paths to the HDD files in the config. It seems V12 was able to accept relative paths, whereas with V13, an absolute path is required. No big deal! Thanks
