Re: Recommended configurations?

AMI 386 clone When I select this one, it still shows 486 on last page of BIOS. (don't setup HD and check upper left corner) Wonder if others have the same problem. I have only ever had this when I had a bad bios. But if the machine is booting and showing bios, it could just be one of the quirks of ...

Re: For the sake of reference

I posted this in another thread recently (http://pcem-emulator.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=560), but google books is full of historical magazines with real PC configurations (from the US at least): https://books.google.com.au/books?id=w_OhaFDePS4C&dq=pc+mag&source=gbs_navlinks_s is ...

Re: Recommended configurations?

Yours is a very good idea astocky! Someone had your same idea in this thread: http://pcem-emulator.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=475&p=3206 They aim to gather historical computer's configuration. Here, we aim toward PCem's configuration. We can make an Excel chart too! I will work on som...

Re: Recommended configurations?

Might be a bit late but I was reading through historical PC Mag issues on google (https://books.google.com.au/books?id=w_OhaFDePS4C&dq=pc+mag&source=gbs_navlinks_s) and found some preconfigured machines that might be of interest: EDIT (fixed sharing on the spreadsheet): https://docs.google.c...

Re: Direct3D performance

Windows 10, that could explain it. I didn't realise that, and I wonder if others are having similiar issues without knowing it.

Thanks for the fast response.

Direct3D performance

I don't know if others are having issues with Direct Draw performance, but I was having trouble running doom on a 486DX4/100 - getting 75-90% speed with dynamic recompiler switched on. Switching to Direct3D cause PCem to crash. I have just found out that Optimus was the issue (or at least the Intel ...

Re: Guide to set up environment to compile?

Thanks Battler,

Normally I wouldn't go for the quick download. But I can see how yours is configured differently to mine and that might help me work out why OpenAL is giving me issues.

Re: Guide to set up environment to compile?

I am trying to compile the latest builds of PCem and am getting errors. I have fixed most of the errors in Build.sh, but can't seem to get OpenAl to make correctly: Here is the error: error: redefinition of 'struct timespec' struct timespec { ^ In file included from d:\mingw\include\time.h:53:0 in f...

Re: Dynamic recompiler

I have not performed significant testing, but the CPU usage on Quake has definitely dropped from r225 to r226. Running the timedemo demo1 average CPU usage from ~65 (peak 77) down to ~55 (peak 62). Running DOS 6.22, Intel Adv/EV, Pentium 120, A lot of cache, Sound Blaster 16, 32MB, Fast VLB/PCI, Pho...
