Re: questions about pcem

Most DOS work fine under Windows 9x As a matter of fact I tested Jungle Book under Windows 98SE I installed it from the same source as yours. Hmm, and now that I remember I didn't install it haha! I just uncompressed the file, copied to the virtual HD and run it from Windows 98SE Can you post a pict...

I didn't have time to test those games, but according to MobyGames those titles should run on a 8088/6

Re: questions about pcem

I tested Jungle Book. Music and sound works
Music is in MIDI format. Maybe you don't listen to it because it has very low volume. (An already well known issue in PCem)

Mouse on Maniac Mansion Deluxe

Here's a strange one. I can´t get a serial mouse to work on the Deluxe version of Maniac Mansion under MS-DOS using a 286/386. The first version (the one that looks more like the C64) works fine. I tested using the mouse driver that comes with MS-DOS 6.22 and cute mouse Can someone else reproduce th...

There is no need to transfer anything! What is the original extension you have for Earthworm Jim? If you downloaded and ISO file it won't have music no matter what

Re: questions about pcem

I think I figured out what happens with Earthworm Jim. This game has Audio tracks. I first ran the with the PCem's image option of CUE/BIN, and I believe the music begins to sound, but stops after 1 or 2 seconds. Then, I mounted the image with a host utility (Alcohol 120%) and chose PC'em option of ...

Re: questions about pcem

another question if possible, when i start jungle book games it say error writting files, lion king and earthworm jim works but they haven't music. Most DOS games need to be configured before its execution with an utility called "setup" or similar, you need to configure the sound card properly, and o...

No problem! Windows 98 is OK for DOS gaming! But I'm not understanding what is your problem... Does Windows 98's setup shutdown when you try to install it?

Re: questions about pcem

Ok, get WinImage and a bootable DOS 6.22 disk image
Make the HDD image with PCem
Configure the BIOS
Boot PCem with the bootable disk inserted, run fdisk, format the HDD, make the C bootable by running SYS C: from the floppy drive
Quite cumbersome, but it is exactly as it was in the old days!

Re: questions about pcem

What kind of games would you like to play? DOS or Windows 9x?

For light DOS games an easy way would be to have a bootable DOS disk (you can get it from the internet very easly) and another drive (B:) with the game itself

Re: questions about pcem

You need to create a virtual hard disk (PCem has the option when you select the HD) Then you can open the IMA/IMG with any utility (I use WinImage) and inject the games file to the virtual hd or... you can mount a CD image with the game the same goes to to floppy images. You can mount floppy images ...

Re: [Patch] Epson PC AX3

In my screenshot it would work as pictured, I just though that for 386 and upper you would always want to enter a value in MB, I wasn't aware of those atypical motherboards.

I really love your radio button idea on all machines!

Resolution in the Status tab

I was playing World Championship Soccer, a 1991 DOS game In the Status it shows the game as running in 640x200, however I'm pretty sure the game runs in 320x200, maybe 320x240, but I've never seen a DOS game running in 640x200. What's going on? How can I tell what is the original resolution the game...

Re: [Patch] Epson PC AX3

Here it is! At first I though it was on all 386 SX models, but it only happens with the AMI clone
It isn't very serious, just a line of code I believe. I'd do it myself but I don't know how to make patches (hg diff in MingW)

Re: VHD support

A really good feature that would help to install new files into the emulator could be the ability to have an emulated drive linked to a specific folder into a host drive. That would be a huge help, since what I do now to inject files into the emulated HD is to open the virtual HD with WinImage, but ...

Be careful! 386 SX models count memory as KB in the configuration dialog where it should be in MB

Re: Command line options...

That's a very good idea! What we have now (upgrade after the official v12) is a dialog box at launch to load different configurations, but I believe your idea is much better. This dialog box is kinda ugly and buggy I also prefer to have CFG files to be associated with PCem and with a double click on...

Re: Aces of the deep (AOD) DOS version not working

Well, I think I'm as nnikin, the sounds does work and I can navigate the menus but when I try to enter a mission the game goes to DOS with this error:
"Assert::err: Lines 34 in "S:\SUBSIM\CODE\DEV\.\eventlst.cpp"

I don't have any S unit in my PC. That's odd

Re: Aces of the deep (AOD) DOS version not working

Welcome to PCem! I know the title says the DOS is not working. Is that the floppy version? Did you try the CD version? Edit: I'm testing the CD version that works under DOS. I'm having issues too. The setup hangs when I try to autodetect the sound card, and also the game crashes even if I don't sele...
