Re: [Feature request] LIM EMS support

As Blatter said, what you are looking for I believe is on the Award 286.
I can enter the BIOS screen, but I couldn't boot an OS with the floppy drives

Is this what you are looking for? Or you still need that card?

Re: [Feature request] LIM EMS support

I guess using XMS memory with HIMEM.SYS won´t do, right?

Just out of curiosity, what application or game for a XT or 286 uses more than the 640KB conventional memory? So far I know none

Re: Things that need to be twaked/improved: cache

The cache emulation is complete garbage, and I would have removed it if I hadn't had numerous people asking me not to. It isn't possible to do even remotely accurate cache emulation without destroying emulator performance. I believe the goal of every emulator is to be a close to the real thing as p...

Re: Things that need to be twaked/improved: cache

In my opinion, L1 should be hardcoded and shouldn't be allowed to be altered, 16+16 kb on the Pentium MMX. You can, however, provide different options for L2 motherboard cache, 128, 256, 512, 1 or 2MB.

Thank you, and sorry for the long post

Also, in the boot screen it doesn't detect any L2 cache either

Things that need to be twaked/improved: cache

I run SpeedSys in a real 430VX motherboard with a Pentium MMX 233 and then compared with PCem11. Big surprise! L1 is way out of scale compared to real microprocessor. Pentiums MMX have 16 kb L1 for data (what is measured by SpeedSys). PCem, reports 64 kb using "a little" cache; 128 kb using "a bit" ...

That's called Software Rendering and it is usually slow, that is why 3D cards came to exist.

Re: PCem-X, PCem-experimental and PCem-unofficial

I'm actually considering making the repository private and password-protecting the Jenkins (and removing old binaries from my server), and give details only to people I can trust they won't ask for support with it here. Because it's evident that regardless of how clear I make things, people will in...

I would like to propose a small request: can we have the option to write protect the floppy disks? Having the option to check and uncheck the protection in real time, from the configuration menu, like in WinUAE (by the way, they have a nice looking and functional UI) http://guide.abime.net/gguides/i...

Assembler

Probably a dumb question, but here it goes: could we get significant performance benefit IF PCem would be written in assembler? I know it´s almost impossible because of its difficulty, but I ask anyway

I Banshee wouldn´t make much sense... it performs very similar to a single Voodoo2, and the developer (he/she?) said that would work on a Voodoo2 in a future

Yes, but, very, very few games, likely 5 or less before 2005. Quake 3 SMP was very unstable and didn't show any performance benefit from what I have tested (on a dual Pentium II 450)

That's understandable. Dual CPU for gaming wasn't implemented until 2005, and games from that time work with current OSes

I downloaded the program, and effectively it crashes at detecting the copro. Of course, selecting an SX 486 works fine.
Strange, I tested with a Pentium MMX (430VX) that also has a on-die copro and detects it fine

Ok, I stand corrected. The releasing of the emulator to the host OS works fine with the press of the middle button on Windows 8. It happens that I was using the Diablo III mouse with the default Windows driver, and pushing the middle button writes the character "v", now I installed the manufacturer'...
