Re: Settings and other UI improvement proposal

I would like to propose a small request: can we have the option to write protect the floppy disks? Having the option to check and uncheck the protection in real time, from the configuration menu, like in WinUAE (by the way, they have a nice looking and functional UI) http://guide.abime.net/gguides/i...

Assembler

Probably a dumb question, but here it goes: could we get significant performance benefit IF PCem would be written in assembler? I know it´s almost impossible because of its difficulty, but I ask anyway

I Banshee wouldn´t make much sense... it performs very similar to a single Voodoo2, and the developer (he/she?) said that would work on a Voodoo2 in a future

Yes, but, very, very few games, likely 5 or less before 2005. Quake 3 SMP was very unstable and didn't show any performance benefit from what I have tested (on a dual Pentium II 450)

That's understandable. Dual CPU for gaming wasn't implemented until 2005, and games from that time work with current OSes

Yes, that's true, only hangs with the recompiler on, but it's odd that only happens at 33 mhz

I downloaded the program, and effectively it crashes at detecting the copro. Of course, selecting an SX 486 works fine.
Strange, I tested with a Pentium MMX (430VX) that also has a on-die copro and detects it fine

Ok, I stand corrected. The releasing of the emulator to the host OS works fine with the press of the middle button on Windows 8. It happens that I was using the Diablo III mouse with the default Windows driver, and pushing the middle button writes the character "v", now I installed the manufacturer'...

so i was wondering, since my mobo supports only socket lga 1150,and i have a chance to buy an I7 Intel I7 4790 3,6 Ghz,will the performance improve a lot,or there would be a barely noticeable improvement? If you can, buy the K version, the 4790k. You can easily overclock it to 4.5 ghz as mine I can ...

I'm not answering your question directly, but I have a question myself. Does PCem have a built-in FPS counter? Is what I have circled in red? Because it says 0 frames/sec and (612) then I interpret is 6,12 fps?

PCem is quite CPU demanding, I'll give you that, but I tried SC2K with a Pentium MMX 233 and it runs always at 100% with all in game speeds.

It's quite easy. Clicking on the lego with the wrench you'll access the video options. Once there, make sure it says "Hardware"

I selected the Mach 64 as the 2D video card and you have you check Voodoo Graphics in the Configuration Box, once in Windows you need to install the drivers for both cards. You can choose any other 2D card you may like, as long as it has the working driver (Voodoo won't work with standard windows dr...

Re: Lego Creator Freezes when using S3 virge/DX acceleration

Yeah, that's the latest driver. I played LEGO Creator again, and, yes... running it in Harware mode crashes the game, I must have played in Software before. You can play using the ViRGE DX in soft mode, or another video card (I tested the Mach 64) plus the Voodoo in Hardware mode and works fine. But...

Re: [PATCH] CD-ROM improvements

As a matter of fact, ISO files are the worst extension IMHO since they can only contain one track and many games of the late 90's have more than one track (data+audio tracks), so ISO files can't handle those games.
