I still don't know how the host computer could communicate with the other computer with native IR. Modern computers don't have built-in IR, am I right?

Re: PCem USB support
Did the i430VX have USB support? I had one back in the day and the pads were on the PCB, but they never soldered a header on the board. I don't recall seeing USB picking up in usage until the P2/P3 eras. Yes, it does, but technically USB is on the southbridge (PIIX3) and USB support indeed begand o...

Re: IBM PCjr hard drive
I don't know much about the PCjr but these is what I found so far: 1) jr-IDE -- https://texelec.com/product/jr-ide-for-the-pcjr-by-retrotronics/ 2) a sidecar called "Legacy III" --- https://www.brutman.com/PCjr/pcjr_options.html 3) Use a ZIP drive BUT PCem emulated the IDE one and it's got to be the...

Important announcement for PCem
Just a few days ago, Apple announced that will soon start making its own processors for their desktop and laptops, those processors will be RISC based and Apple's aim is their processors to be faster than the current Intel ones. So... when the times comes, if we have an official PCem build for that ...

You have the readme.txt here https://bitbucket.org/pcem_emulator/pcem/src/default/readme.txt which is the only documentation AFAIK. Like JosepMa said, there you have the bios names you need and you can also look at the source code for the name files. As for the limitations I guess you kinda know the...

Re: Future graphics card emulation
Like everyone here, I know I would welcome the addition of the Voodoo Banshee and the Voodoo3, but not at the cost of wrecking PCem or overworking Sarah and leilei. I agree with PoloniumRain. There are many things Sarah and leilei can do to improve PCem without adding the Voodoo3. There does come a...

Re: Future graphics card emulation
PoloniumRain, you are new here, so I going to explain a few things: 1) Sarah (the main programmer of PCem) said many, many times CPU emulation cannot be divided into many threads, so, for PCem the best host processors would be the one that performs the best with single thread operations, like an Int...

Re: Future graphics card emulation
Any view on the Intel i740? The Supermodel emulator (Sega Model 3) emulates the earlier related Real3D chip (through GL though...). Re: Future graphics card emulation
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the future of PCem! As leilei mentioned, the Intel 740 could be interesting to look at some point (I'm sure there's lot of documentation for it) Also I mention the Trident Blade XP and SiS 6326... I'm not particulary interested in those, but I mentioned them in ca...

Re: Any possibilities of emulating voodoo 5 ?
As noted, we recently discussed the possibilty of the Voodoo3 and it was concluded it was not worth it because current hardware wouldn't handle it, and I believe it the V3 would be much less effective than the current V2 SLI because the V2 SLI can use many threads whereas the V3 would use less for t...

Re: Voodoo3 support in Future ?
Just use the Voodoo3 file as a base (maintaining the copyright of course). You say that like it's an easy thing to do. The reality is that if anyone wanted to do this, the only sane way to do it would be to throw away the existing PCem Voodoo code, that I have spent a considerable amount of time an...

Honestly, I don't see anything out of the extraordinary. I mean, the led HDD activity led stutters on real machines and takes the same time to load. Of course on a RAM drive it would load quicker because RAM is faster than a mechanical HDD Maybe what you want is the HDD to act a RAM drive to avoid l...
