I bet Sarahwalker and leilei are not aware of these controls on Voodoo 2 and brands of control panels.

Of course they are well aware!

Re: Can any of these controls work on Voodoo 2.

Most probably it will work. You will have to install the apropriate drivers, ie. the ones from Canopus, Creative, Diamond, or whatever Control Panel you like

Re: For the sake of reference

It was interesting in mid 90s move from Germany to USA and notice HUGE difference in computers. While Germany saw strong 486 at the end of 95, in USA you hardly could get any 486 already in 96. In Germany you could get Commodore Amiga (1200/600) at the time, while in USA you could not find any?! :)...

Re: For the sake of reference

I guess we're talking about different things here. We have to establish what the reference, or even better, what would be the purpose of emulating certain processor. In my case (and I think most of us) is for gaming. What I want to say is, sure, there were 386 in 1998, but I bet most of them were in...

Yours is a very good idea astocky! Someone had your same idea in this thread: http://pcem-emulator.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=475&p=3206 They aim to gather historical computer's configuration. Here, we aim toward PCem's configuration. We can make an Excel chart too! I will work on something ri...

I also would like to have the Hercules video card to be configured as Green or Amber, as in DOSbox.
Technically, its not a configuration of the video card, but...

Can you write a patch? I bet it would be very easy to do.
Of course, Sarah should approve this idea

It should be... you should ask Sarah, but we'd need a faster CPU to fully take advantage of SLI, a Pentium II for sure

Re: Emulation of Voodoo Banshee, SLI and AGP.

I'm not sure I'm understanding, but I believe Banshee emulation, though desired, is not worth that much. Voodoo2 SLI performance is very close to Voodoo3 2000, and thus more capable than the Banshee.

The banshee is light years better.

Re: VGA pass-through cable emulation for next PCem possible?

The Voodoo2 as well as the original Voodoo is only a 3D card, thus requieries a 2D card (an ordinary VGA) card. That pass-through is an external card for connecting both cards. It is not requiered for PCem as it connects both card internaly, as you can see currently with Voodoo 1. Voodoo2 also has a...

I forgot to mention, that running Pentium MMX 166 or 233 plus Voodoo is quite CPU host demanding. So, if you feel sound stuttering, try lowering the emulated CPU or play a little with the Voodoo's settings (or disable it). You may also try with the cache setting, anything but "infinite" is usually g...

Re: Recommended configurations?

Hello and welcome to PCem! I'm glad you like it. As per configurations, it depends on what OS you want to emulate. High end system now would be a Pentium MMX 233 and its recommanded OS would be Windows 98 SE for me. If that is what you are looking for I'd recommend the Award 430VX PCI base config wi...
