A mere idea for a future chipset (440FX)
SarahWalker and PCem devs! Did you consider to emulate the 440FX in a future? I read that QEMU chose to emulate that chipset, and since is an open source software, you can take the code from there! Also, both 440FX and 430VX utilize the same southbridge (PIIX3) so, you’d have half work done! With 44...

Re: PCem 11 and Voodoo
Maybe you should wait for omarsis81 reply. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me either. I suspected it could be an issue with nVidia cards, so I switched to Intel HD, but it didn't work also. My host OS is Windows 8.1. Maybe that's the cause? Here goes the pcem.cfg gameblaster = 0 gus = 0 ssi2001 =...

PCem 11 and Voodoo
Did anyone successfully try to launch ANY voodoo game with the new (ver 11.0) release? Quake 2, Forsaken, and everything that worked with 10.1 crashes with the new version. Am I doing something wrong?

CPU / GPU emulation complexity
Just curious… does cpu / gpu emulation complexity depend on how many transistors the chip has? Or I’m just talking nonsense? I’m reading that the Pentium II (Klamath or Deschutes) has 7,500,000 transistors and the K6-III, the staggering amount of 21,400,000 transistors. So… is the K6-III emulation m...

430VX RAM limit
I noticed that the chipset 430VX has a RAM limit of 128 MB, and, of course, Shuttle HOT 557's manual states that max memory is 128 MB. However, in PCem you can set up to 256 MB. BIOS and Windows detects 256 memory without problems. Is that limitation rised on purpose? Is it a bug ment to be fixed?

Re: Super Socket Seven
could we try using a SiS 5571B or a TX based one? these are supposed to be more stable with 6x86 CPU's and support the freaky bus speeds better Cyrix 6x86 were not Super Socket 7. Most common Super Socket 7 CPUs were the K6-2 and III, and most common chipsets used with those were the Ali Aladdin IV...

Re: Host machine survey
There are a few extra bits with Voodoo 2 (triangle setup engine, a few more texture and blend modes, new command protocol) but nothing that will have a massive impact. The 2-4x speed increase over Voodoo 1 means that just emulating one of them will take a LOT more CPU power. That's what I thought. ...

iI 4790k / 16 GB RAM / nVidia GTX 960
Voodoo emulation works almost always at 100%, but it has the host CPU working at 80% (I have HT disabled).
I can’t even imagine what CPU would it take to emulate a Voodoo2 SLI hehe

the Voodoo emulation requieres a horsepower CPU to work at 100% levels constantly
I have a 4790k and I feel it's the minimum for the Voodoo emulation to work as it should be

Thanks!
I’ve been using PCem for a week or so, and it’s awesome! The first emulator I’ve seen which truly behaves like a real 286! It has the best implemented Voodoo emulator too, great compatibility (it consumes a lot of CPU though) This is my first post, and I like to thank Tom Walker and all who contribu...
