Re: Community Discord?

I haven't been into a chatroom for nearly a decade until Discord started appearing because I dislike the IRC protocol so much for duct-taped nick enforcement systems, netsplits, and creepy features. The worst part of Discord is sometimes it'll trip an anti-bot check and want 2factor, and you have to...

Re: v14 feature freeze end of Saturday 17th of March

A higher cylinder limit could help. There are times I wish I had a bit more space so I wouldn't have to make 15 8gb images to test across many configurations. Most of the games dumped in them are from hard drive migrations and often have redundancy

MegaPC Tseng slowness

Noticed the last commit and wanted to try that out immediately. When ET4000AX is used in a MegaPC it'll be slow in many games (i.e. Major Stryker). Doesn't affect AMI386 in the same way. Built-in video (VGA) is fine. Real behavior? DISCLAIMER: I'm only using the MegaPC for the working Phoenix 386SX ...

If there is one it should be owned by Sarah. I'm not a fan of fan-owned emulation discords for the general grief they bring and would liekly serve as a huge distraction towards time spent working on the emulator.

It's the Gateway P5 line from P5-100 up IIRC.

The latest commit might've fixed the FDC as both the FDC and HDD show up now. Previously only one or the other would show

Re: I know it's technically too late to add new machines

Having Pentium II emulation would mean a recompiler rewrite first as the P6 architecture is wildly different on how it treats instructions and cache. You can't just take Pentium and clock it up and change a few CPUIDs around to emulate a Pentium II.

I couldn't locate the exact bios rom the patch needs, but the zappa upgrade for Gateway seems to work with an odd FDC issue. Just throwing this screenshot out there since amibios oem logos are cute and stirring interest into more possible OEM model featurecreep

WinME always ate the autoexec.bat in a desperate attempt to remove all real-mode drivers and enforce WDM. This also affects SB16 emulation TSRs on the SB Live for example
I believe environment variables are set elsewhere iirc (msconfig?)

Could the OpenALSoft source help out on the DSP front? What about for 4/5.1 channel emulation? Emulating the different jack qualities for the front/back (front is worse)?

Re: [Patch] Packard Bell Legend 300SX

Another significant Packard Bell "first" many have had is the Legend 40xCD model as that's a cheap Pentium 75 (without cache D: ) but with a overcompensating software bundle that many out there are seemingly familiar with (mainly for Spiderman Cartoon Maker and Journeyman Project). This particular c...

Re: How music is emulated in PCem (MIDI)

p.s. Sound Blaster AWE32 is the best sound card available in PCEM currently, right? Okay though i don't expect this to be different from the previous NVR file I posted. I only have the 3.25 on the bios and config and didn't set this Windows up on two floppy drives. (none of my configs use the default dual 2.88mb config/setup)

The crash is gone now. However the Win98SE guest now has a hang during boot. There's a lot of

Code: Select all

FIFO is now 01, threshold is 10
onesec
in the log

Disabling the FDC also gets past this.

The FDC commit did it.

Disabling the onboard FDD in the award 430vx bios allows Win98 to boot without a crash, so maybe that's it

GCC 4.7.2 still used for compiling.

430VX and Win98/ME now crashes PCem

Doesn't seem to matter what the CPU is, PCem crashes while booting Windows 98 and Windows Me. There's nothing in the log that shows more than a truncated "Create texture". I don't think 2) is recompiler related. I've seen Doom hang on start on AMI386 with AM386 and Cyrix486SLC processors (with MSDOS 6.22, SBProv2,ATI-28800), unfortunately seemingly at random. It's more consistently starting up on the AMI WinBIOS 486 and SIS496 boards and I don't believe specific fast ...

Re: [request] Implement onboard chips emulation

I think it's the other way around. Vibra16's sharper sounding and more often than not has CQM instead of YMF262 (which isn't emulated by anything in the world afaik). Emulating a Vibra16 would also lead towards emulating a SB32 and AWE64 (which is further integrated and doesn't allow any real ymf262...

Google says you're trying to load a RetroArch shader preset file as a shader:

Not the same thing. :) What you have there is an html file that, I guess, RetroArch processes to find presets.
PCem can load them.

CRT-Royale's infamous for making many shader compilers (in video drivers) upset. I'd suggest starting with CRT-Easymode-Halation instead. I have a personal cache of shaders here: https://github.com/leilei-/someshaders Most of it are presets on a crt-easymode-halation (and that shader itself is tweak...

I can't see how V12 would be faster than V13.1 at all.... there's also no DX4/66

Re: Execution rate at DOS prompt, menus, etc.

That lack of refresh is intentional. If you don't like that, you can use the OpenGL 3.0 renderer where all refresh is forced (allowing shaders to constantly work etc)
