Re: Not reading bootfloppy?

If you've already formatted your drive with a newer Windows than 95A, chances are it's FAT32. Windows 95 only supported FAT16 at best originally. Note that you won't be able to emulate the Voodoo on that AMI WinBIOS 486 due to the whole PCI-lacking thing For 3d stuff Award 430vx is what you'll want ...

Re: Not reading bootfloppy?

The currently emulated AMI WinBIOS 486 board does not support PCI. If you want a PCI 486 to emulate you'll have to fetch a SiS 496/497 bios somewhere

Re: SDL linear filtering

If you were to have actual normal3x in PCem, you'd see this applied as normal6x as PCem properly emulates double-scanned VGA.

Your best bet is a OpenGL 3.0 shader preset of some kind...

Re: [Request] Nvidia Riva 128 , TNT, TNT2 ,Matrox video cards

The least that could happen is an attempt to reproduce various rendering quirks on Voodoo interpreter code as fun learning patches not intended for inclusion: - nVidia's 16x16 dither matrix that slightly resembles ordered dither on a restore-down button. Sounds like a CPU cache killer at that size -...

Re: [Request] Nvidia Riva 128 , TNT, TNT2 ,Matrox video cards

No public documentation or spec sheets (Working from xfree86 source wouldn't be enough) and the only actual Nvidia emulation code around is the Xbox GF3 stuff in MAME and Xqemu and those are missing features present in the early Nvidia cards. It's barely less secretive than PowerVR. I think the only...

Re: 266MMX slower than P70

Sorry I was thinking about desktop CPU no Mobile, to be honest I'm asking why desktop CPU arrrived only to 233 MMX and mobile up to 300 MMX. In 1997, Intel wanted to bring their newer P6 architecture from the professional tier (Pentium Pro, 1995) to the consumer desktop market and didn't want the c...

There's also Mobile PMMX 300MHz emulation (Tillamook) I have chosen Pentium 266 MMX for starter because it was an uber machine in the P1 era. A Penti...

Re: Problems with some Origin games

I don't use a starter pack; just a stock 6.22 install + the official Creative Sound Blaster 16 floppies from 1993, which install a bunch of devices and TSRs to initialize the card and mixer. It's a little more involved than a simple SET BLASTER line.

Until I noticed I can't run the slowest MMX even in W98 desktop for some reason, which I find really odd (opening windows, navigating, etc) makes it all drop below 100%. They'll all do that at startup on the current recompiler. I found running Rain helps a bit (your preference on HLT-spamming win9x...

I never said it didn't work at all. It still has Glide support, just no Direct3D HAL driver. 3rd party drivers are your only option because, well....... 3dfx closed a year before XP released

Yes via 3rd-party drivers, but don't expect Direct3D support for V2 on NT-based OSes.

It could happen eventually. There are bits of code in PCem already to support 387 detection. But "should" I wouldn't think so.

Re: 3DFX compatibility list

Yes. PCem doesn't frameskip. That triple core Athlon II won't give you much V2 SLI action. I'd expect it to only ever do well with Pentium 75. To get V2 SLI going great you would need a relatively recent Intel Core i5-i7 @4GHz+.

Re: 3DFX compatibility list

Unreal runs fine (and better starting from version 218). It's your host computer that's slow and can't handle all the frames at once. Adding (actual) Pentium II emulation won't fix this for you. Perhaps there's also a generational issue with regards to performance acceptance as well, as getting 25fp...

Re: [Patch] 3dfx rendering accuracy

I assumed the 3dfx V2 driver already dioes validating as i've managed to make the card detection fail while trial-and-erroring very slightly different dither tables. I don't have doubt for PCem's current 2x2 table. I would guess you are missing the conversion to RGB565 that is done after the ditheri...

Re: CD rom images will not load and freeze the GUI

I'd assume this is the WX mouse locking problem with the window focus, reproducible by doing this:

- open a CD-rom or shader manager window
- Tab to another window
- Close another window
- Witness your mouse get stuck in the center of the PCem window

Here's a new patch: - Heavily refactored: table cut in half, no extra alpha blend edit - Now performs dither subtraction on destination before the blending function - More consistent naming (it's called dithersub from here on out) - An attempt to be consistent with the PCem code style (should have n...

Sam running slow on Pentium MMX is NOT a bug! There are much faster CPUs PCem doesn't emulate that Sam would also run slowly on! In addition, PCem doesn't skip frames.

Re: Having trouble installing Windows 98 SE

Sounds like 430VX - Try going into the BIOS and enable "reset configuration data" in the PNP/PCI config screen. Sometimes that'll get around a freeze on post. It's also important to have absolute paths to your hard drive images and CD-ROM image. and finally, not all 98SE CDs are bootable - only the ...

The OP never gets edited and i've already reported Serious Sam a few times earlier with bug reports as it was intended to work on the Voodoo2. Sam's a CPU hog designed for the 7th gen; a Geforce2 won't help this, not even a Voodoo5 6000 will help this. Banshee would be the next in line. I'd also pro...
