Re: 430VX and Win98/ME now crashes PCem

I've tried to make a debug build (though it seems to be failing to make the symbols) and attached gdb to its pid and I don't think it produces much useful info when it crashes at that point. [New Thread 4152.0x11a4] warning: (Internal error: pc 0x1 in read in psymtab, but not in symtab.) warning: (I...

Emulator crashes. Yes i've done a clean build (deleted all .o files, no profiles etc) I typically run make on this text file: -include makefile.mingw-wx-sdl2 CFLAGS = -O3 -march=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer -msse2 -mstackrealign -fno-strict-aliasing -std=gnu99 LIBS = -mwindows -lopengl32 -lopenal32 -ls...

Re: 430VX and Win98/ME now crashes PCem

The FDC commit did it.

Disabling the onboard FDD in the award 430vx bios allows Win98 to boot without a crash, so maybe that's it

GCC 4.7.2 still used for compiling.

430VX and Win98/ME now crashes PCem

Doesn't seem to matter what the CPU is, PCem crashes while booting Windows 98 and Windows Me. There's nothing in the log that shows more than a truncated "Create texture". I wish I had more info to give Win95 and 2K are fine. I believe today's changes had regressed this since this config worked yest...

Re: PCem v13.1 observations and bug report

I don't think 2) is recompiler related. I've seen Doom hang on start on AMI386 with AM386 and Cyrix486SLC processors (with MSDOS 6.22, SBProv2,ATI-28800), unfortunately seemingly at random. It's more consistently starting up on the AMI WinBIOS 486 and SIS496 boards and I don't believe specific fast ...

Re: [request] Implement onboard chips emulation

I think it's the other way around. Vibra16's sharper sounding and more often than not has CQM instead of YMF262 (which isn't emulated by anything in the world afaik). Emulating a Vibra16 would also lead towards emulating a SB32 and AWE64 (which is further integrated and doesn't allow any real ymf262...

Google says you're trying to load a RetroArch shader preset file as a shader:

Not the same thing. :) What you have there is an html file that, I guess, RetroArch processes to find presets.
PCem can load them.

Re: Shaders guide?

CRT-Royale's infamous for making many shader compilers (in video drivers) upset. I'd suggest starting with CRT-Easymode-Halation instead. I have a personal cache of shaders here: https://github.com/leilei-/someshaders Most of it are presets on a crt-easymode-halation (and that shader itself is tweak...

Edit, i checked it on DX4-66Mhz on voodoo1 without recompiler and it works flawlessly, just remember use PCem v12 cos it is much faster, not that accurate but much faster.
I can't see how V12 would be faster than V13.1 at all.... there's also no DX4/66

Re: Execution rate at DOS prompt, menus, etc.

That lack of refresh is intentional. If you don't like that, you can use the OpenGL 3.0 renderer where all refresh is forced (allowing shaders to constantly work etc)

You may need to restart PCem for sound buffer changes to be effective (depending on which OpenAL DLL is used IIRC)

I don't have any issues with my 1.2mb floppy dumps. Just make sure you have the correct floppy drive configured for the desired disk type in both machine and BIOS.

So far the only unusual recompiler choking i've seen on v13.1 is with Ms. PacPC (JROK's excellent DOS Ms. Pacman recreation). Oddly PacPC is not affected.

Re: [REQ] EAX emulation?

The ES1371 card emulation covers this, sort of - many drivers for the SB PCI 128 have EAX support (in addition to some drivers supporting A3D). Haven't tried it with a discrete 4+ speaker setup though (haven't tried it on a real SBPCI either to be fair), but the binaural stuff works on A3D and the E...

The only other "feasibly possible" 3d card I can think of are Rendition cards, only because their papers are out there and the card works similarly to how an AudioPCI works (running off software code), it was never possible for a wrapper to happen since it was like that. What really goes against the...

Which renderer are you using? If Direct3D or Glide, what driver version and DirectX are you using? If Voodoo2, Did you limit 2MB memory in Glide?

If it's I76's terrible terrain pop-in and occasional road poly Z-fighting you're referring to: that's a real thing.

Re: Status of Assembly?

It's only in the recompilers. The immediate issue is only really in that references to the recompilers are still there after disabling them, so interpreter-only builds aren't possible for the time being (but could be with a bunch more ifdefs) Also if it's the Pi you're thinking of, don't expect much...

Re: Windows 98 SE: Trying to change MIDI instrument to GS Wavetable Synth

Windows98 doesn't generally make the software synth available when there's hardware with native playback (as with the real systems with such sound cards). In the 90s it was only really common to see the GS synth on post-AC'97 laptops and other onboard audio chips and a bunch of OEM machines with che...

Oddly I can't seem to reproduce this on AMI486 with Cx486 on recompiler with the Tgui9440 and CDchess configured for Trident and DOS 6.22. How's your CONFIG.SYS? Since you've got DOS 6.22 you could try running MEMMAKER for luck. EDIT: couldn't reproduce it on SIS496, 16mb nor interpreter either. I a...

Ensure you're still using the proper mouse device in the config, since the addition of the Mouse Systems 3-button mouse can bump this.

In addition, using Vsync with the OpenGL backends will cause mouse delays.

Please don't derail the thread about starting wikis (which I disagree about given their huge maintenance overhead) and emulators. My intent was a screenshot gallery of linked game endings after finishing a game within PCem to verify their playability in the simplest briefest way possible.
