FTR this is incorrect and wrongly interpreted from two different frames of palette ramp cycling.

Re: Proprietary API videocards

Only Radeon 8500 supports native Truform. Not even R200's variations do. The wide variety of Radeons I do own don't support Truform either. There's not enough consumer CPU power in the world currently on emulating 3d cards that new anyway, it'd probably have to be vulkan'd for best results.

Re: Development screenshots

Sure it will. Two cards on two different PCI slots helps overcome some of the bottleneck. There's also the 1024x768 res to play with with the additional memory available. However I just hope there's support for 3 or 4 CPU threads for this kind of thing... Voodoo3 doesn't have an interleaving effect ...

Re: Networking discussion

Haven't tried PCem on Pcap yet but i know i've tried it on a DOSBox build with it about a decade ago. It allowed the card to handle IPX (this protocol not installed on the host OS) and connected to one of my old machines running a network game on ipx natively.

Re: Development screenshots

You're debugging the LOD calculation on Rage Pro emulation?

Squishing one of my old ATI Rage Pro Quake2 screenshots shows a similar dither pattern/color reduction (however gamma was applied manually here, i don't know where my ungamma'd ragepro shot went)

Opening "machine" doesn't put it over the main window. Also quitting a machine back to the config picker doesn't focus the window on top either.

I'm considering ditching the native Windows GUI and just making the wxWidgets one the default + only option. Does anyone have any problems with that? Maybe regarding potential input issues in the SDL2 part which always could get ironed out later. The Wx part's fantastic besides some focusing proble...

I'd say it's a bad dump. My image works fine (and definitely doesn't date to xmas 96) leilei: did you install under MS-DOS 6.22 or Windows 9x's DOS? Both. I've tried it in both a 3.1/DOS6.22 config and a Win95 config. should mention i am using oak cdrom drivers off the w95 bootdisk for the dos6.22 i...

Re: Proprietary API videocards

Tuxality's even already here... API wrappers don't really help with registers and the other necessities to emulate an entire video card all that much. It's also an obvious snowball's chance in hell that 2004-05 gen 3d hardware will be emulated (i.e. #2, which actually ISN'T truform capable fyi) I'm ...

Re: Recommended settings for bog-standard i286

For more accurate speed variance, there's some real slow ISA16 SVGA junker cards out there not on the emulated list, Realtek made some of them. (the appeal was low cost and very low size for '94) Off the top of my head for an appropriate benchmark I can't think of any for raw video performance w/o c...

Re: Jagged Alliance not Install in DOS 6.22

Cannot reproduce any of this (the installation errors, the soundset errors, water, trees etc) . Even the water looks fine in both Win9x and DOS 6.22 the only unusual issue is the pentium recompiler slowing down in a lot of it (13-40%) and that's nowhere near fatal. Game is fine and dandy on 486 reco...

What I did for my videos is carefully set up a window capture with VirtualDub (with a trial-and-error-specified resolution so i'd capture the window title along with the emulation just to show its execution/emulated machine)

A&A palette bug

In Amulets & Armor (any version) the brighter colors of the palette get malformed into being even brighter and oversaturated as if it were posterized to a lower bpp. There's occasional blips of intact frames during screen changes where the palette is intact. The game's built-in gamma correction (Alt...
