Re: New and need help

If there isn't a directory listed in the 'ROM files needed' for that card in readme.txt, then just place the ROM files straight in the 'roms' directory.

Re: First Post...And Question about CPU Power

PCem doesn't use anything newer than SSE2, which was introduced on the Pentium 4 20 years ago.

Re: First Post...And Question about CPU Power

Major caveat here - I have no way to reliably predict what performance you're going to get out of a given CPU. There does appear to be some general expectation I've seen that I can provide some kind of CPU recommendation service, which I can not actually do and would not even if I could; I'm not wil...

Well, if someone posted a request, I'm highly sure that this might be ignored, right?

v17 feature freeze at end of Saturday 14th of November

Feature freezing for v17 at the end of Saturday the 14th of November. Any feature patches in before that point will be considered for v17, any submitted after will have to wait for v18. Bug fixes are always welcome of course!

It's an obscure machine. Odds are quite low that anyone on this forum had actually heard of it before you posted this, let alone had a burning desire to emulate it.

Not a clue. Let's wait until the chips are actually available before making conclusions about performance, okay?

In the drive configuration tab, you need to set the Type of one of the drives to CD-ROM.

cdrom_channel should not be -1. That would suggest you don't have a CD-ROM drive configured in PCem's drive setup.

gen_angry has it. I really do not want to be deciding what would be allowed and disallowed, what copyright claims are valid and what aren't. So it's just easier to have a blanket ban. Sorry.

Re: Future graphics card emulation

I had a Creative Banshee, but that was in late 2000 when it was obsolete and it cost £10. And I had to source the drivers of an old coverdisc. And my P120 bottlenecked every game I ran on it. Those were the days...

Probably a DIP switch or jumper or something on the main board determining which OEM the board is today.

Re: [Patch] Intel PIIX3 southbridge (including USB controller)

Sorry for taking so long to comment on this! My main reaction is that I don't think the PIIX3 should be completely separate from the existing PIIX; apart from the USB controller the two are basically identical, so let's keep the existing code unified for the sake of maintainability. I'd be happier i...

My guess is that ViRGE had quite a bad reputation but Trio64 was quite popular in the business market, so they switched name. That's marketing for you...

Re: Future graphics card emulation

Two reasons the onboard video isn't emulated on Endeavor (Zappa doesn't have onboard video); firstly, it's a Trio64V+ rather than the regular Trio64 that PCem currently emulates. Secondly, I've not seen any dumps of the onboard video BIOS, which probably isn't the same as you'd get on a PCI card. I ...

If the card you're thinking of isn't listed then it probably isn't interesting enough to be worth emulating.

Re: Translating PCEM

Good video, though much of it doesn't seem applicable to PCem; we don't need to deal with names, thank god. The wxWidgets internationalisation page shermanp linked to looks useful as a starting point. Unfortunately a lot of PCem's GUI was ported from Win32 to wxWidgets using a wrapper (see wx-utils....
