Re: PCem infrared emulation
I keep seeing talk about how it could be done and whether or not it should be done but I'm not seeing any actual useful purpose to emulating it other than for it to just be there. Something with absolutely no real use is going to be minimal priority over something that would actually do something or...

Re: Future graphics card emulation
Frankly the only graphics emulation I care about is getting enough distinct cards with different standards to provide complete compatibility for hardware-3D games. That's the spot where modern systems struggle to run programs the most. I always consider the goal of these kinds of emulation projects ...

Re: Any possibilities of emulating voodoo 5 ?
I'm fairly certain games that were available from the time the Voodoo 5 came about are playable on modern systems in other ways that don't require emulating an entire machine. There might be a few edge cases, of course, but for the most part it seems like you don't really need full-on machine emulat...

I heard someone is working on trying to figure out a way to do something similar to that using PCem for a project, but I wouldn't be able to tell you what kind of progress is being made.

It only has to do with 3DFX. It's not going to change anything that isn't related to rendering 3D through a 3DFX card. Dithering and scanlines are also not the same thing.

Well, you could always try contacting someone who makes these sort of patches, I guess. It's just that it's a rule that you can't really go around posting material that isn't legally distributable.

I'm running the game in a 486/66 under DOS 6.22 and the mouse is perfect. If the problem is because is running under Windows, I bet it is real behavior I tried it in Dosbox and it works fine there. I don't understand why this happens in Windows 98. "dosbox" or "dos"? Important d...

Have you already tried manually selecting the options according to PCem's configuration, if the game even has manual configuration? Not that I'd expect this to be the problem, but sometimes autodetection is wrong for one reason or another.

And either way, programming isn't a limitlessly transferable skillset. Programming by itself offers nothing, you need to know what you're intending to do in detail, you need to know the relevant language(s), etc.

Re: Jungle Strike from "Desert Strike and Jungle Strike" doesn't work
I think the divide overflow thing is usually caused by running a game on a cpu that's too fast. I think there's a patch out there, but a simpler solution is just to try a different cpu and see if that fixes it. I don't know why it would be doing it on the pentium overdrive, since that's nowhere near...

I wouldn't want to blame the video card, but the easiest thing you can do is try another mouse driver or mess with the settings of the one you're using.

I think it wouldn't be connected to the emulated machine. You might have to do a bit of research but I think a VM might possibly be able to do that?

Merely selecting an option in PCem isn't enough. More than that, you need a DOS mouse driver active to use a mouse in plain DOS like that.

Re: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure and Earthworm Jim for windows 95 play way too fast!
Fullscreen fast probably runs at 75 because most CRT monitors were capable of 75hz to begin with. I don't know why the lower framerate is called "smooth" and I don't know what refresh rate PCem pretends to have, but in my experimentation with the most popular PCem hardware settings, I can'...

Re: What computer processor to emulate pentium mmx and up with PCem well?
Ironically, it seems that PCem's approach to emulation is more efficient than DOSbox in several different cases, and when you start approaching very fast system speeds that are too high to use PCem for, you may as well sacrifice the "accuracy" for a virtual machine, such as with VirtualBox...

I'm not sure what's preventing you from making these "Data only" images into hard drive images and then mounting them that way with the secondary IDE. I don't know what exactly you're doing with them but it can't possibly require permanent use of a removable disc greater than CD size, hot ...

Re: What computer processor to emulate pentium mmx and up with PCem well?
My input is absolutely worthless but I recently got myself a ryzen 3700x and it doesn't appear to flinch for the slightest moment at those speeds. At the very least an i9-9900 would surely dominate at most processor speeds but I don't know much about the lesser ones at this moment to say much of any...

Does the game even support that resolution? I don't know anything about it but you haven't said anything about attemping to change the resolution in the game itself. Nothing online seems to indicate that it even does another resolution.
