Re: [BUG?] VGA - color brightness
What are you running in these screenshots? My own project .. using nothing special, just changing colors in mode 13h the usal way with palette registers .. added the RGB value in the left screen to show the difference, its the color of the field where this color is used. @leilei: its set to svga_et...

[BUG?] VGA - color brightness
Hi,
seems, that DOSBox and PCem (linux) render the colors differently .. colors look too bright in PCem for the 18bit RGB values ?! It doesn't matter, if software or openGL rendering ..

Re: CRT Controller Emulation
Register 8 isn't currently emulated I'm afraid. I can add it, but probably not until the weekend. Seems, that PCem 13.1 doesn't emulate it .. would be nice for future releases to get a fully emulated crt controller, I guess some games use smooth vertical scrolling and other hacks too .. Btw. PCem 1...

[Linux] [PCem v13.1] Compile errors
Hi folks, just tried to compile PCem v13.1, getting a lot of errors regarding wxWidgets: Example wx-app.h:57:29: error: invalid use of incomplete type ‘class wxCommandEvent’ class CallbackEvent: public wxCommandEvent ^ In file included from /usr/include/wx-3.0/wx/wx.h:24:0, from wx-app.h:6, from wx-...

Re: CMOS memory size mismatch
okay, good to know .. I tried to set extended ram to 0 and base ram to 512 / 640 kB, but bios complains .. the only working setup - didnt test more than 1 MB - is setting ram to 512k in both pcem config & bios base memory so far, of course only suitable if 512k are enough for you ..

.. after playing around it doesn't seem to be a PCem issue but a more or less common linux issue .. I deactivated xfwm composition manager, installed compton composition manager, activated glx backend with opengl-oml vsync and now tearing is almost gone, now there is a visible difference when pcem's...

with the excellent new wx/sdl gui screen recording is now very simple and accurate under linux, since the window size and position can be fixed, even on low end machines .. I'm using a internal VSync-wait for my prods to avoid tearing when updating the gfx memory and it's working in DOSBox & real hardware .. when running PCem I see more or less heavy tearing between the frames (emulating i286/16 on i3 / i5, runs at full speed) .. even with the latest mainline. It d...

Re: [Linux] GUI discussion
one suggestion - would be nice to have some fixed screen resolutions for window .. you could either stay with fixed & scale, but in that case the window is resized everytime the resolution of the machine changes, or it stays the same window size when set to resizeable, but it's only freehand .. ...

no, not my site, the benchmarks are from 2001 .. but it's hard today to benchmark real hardware since most of it is retired & was thrown in the trash .. checkit is a very accurate benchmark too .. and landmark was the defacto standard at that time ..

DOSBox has a built-in screen video capture function.
Any recommendations for a Linux & Windows Tool for screen video capturing PCem ? I tried some with linux but didn't find a satisfactory tool especially when it comes to capturing just the screen but not the window border ..

oh, sorry, maybe my fault .. atm only my code, I initialized the mode like Michael Abrash did, in Dosbox it went fine .. I'll check it again and tell you if I find the bug, perhaps PCems emulation is simply more realistic than dosbox and doesn't forgive coders inaccuracies !

Seems, that PCem doesn't atm support Mode 320x 240 x256 (called "Mode-X") .. http://www.jagregory.com/abrash-black-book/#selecting-320x240-256-color-mode see Listing 47.1 It's essentially changing some CRT registers, which you can see in the listing step by step .. when changing these regi...
