PCem system requirements

Post by xXLuckyXx »

How strong PC do I need to have to run Windows with Pentium MMX on 100%? For example Serious Sam is very slow with any MMX processor.

This is my PC:
Operating System: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit SP1
CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 450 Processor 3.20 GHz
RAM: 4,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 399MHz
Motherboard: ASRock M3N78D (CPUSocket)
Graphics: Philips 196VL (1366x768@60Hz)
1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series

Btw, what are Mobile Pentium processors for?

Probably a Core i5 that's not too old at least. Aim for 4ghz

Serious Sam however on a real PMMX machine it will be slow. That game really demands more of a Pentium III 700Mhz at least to be playable to the end (or more at a minimum, a P2 400), all targets that aren't feasible to emulate with current common systems for a long time. I only test it because it officially supports the Voodoo2.

Mobile Pentium processors were designed for use in notebooks. They don't use the Socket 7 format, so in real life you can't put those Mobile processors in the current 430VX mother. I guess Sarah put them in PCem for a little more of speed, but I hope she'll remove them when more processors are available, or... we have a notebook emulated
