request save state feature

Post by jznomoney » Sun 17 Dec, 2017 12:41 pm

is it possible for a future release to have a save state feature so if you wanted to close pcem you could restore the state the vm was in previously?

Technically speaking, I *think* PCem is not a virtual machine, but save states would be a great tool, especially for playing difficult games with no saving option

Save states would require quite a lot of code restructuring to make feasible, so they're unlikely to happen any time soon.

They can be useful for games like Grand Theft Auto where you are forced to complete an entire section (which is quite long) for the game to automatically save your progress.

Sarah, DOSBox Daum Cafe already has save state support. You could look at the code and try to implement it in PCem.

That's not going to help in the slightest.
