One of my favorite machines to use with PCem is a 486/66 with 1 Gb. and DOS 6.22. However, I recetly realised my 1 Gb. harddrive is running out of space, and not for the usual reasons. It seems to me that I can't set up more that 500 Mb. of space. It's weird, because I thought the limit for this version of DOS is 2 Gb.
I've tried several BIOS, but no matter what I can't set up the entire harddisk, even of I use the FDISK and FORMAT tools from the Windows 98SE bootdisk.
Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong? And before you tell me to try another BIOS, both AMI 486 Clone and AMI WinBIOS 486 show the correct disk size from the BIOS.
Trouble with DOS and 1 Gb. harrdrive.
Re: Trouble with DOS and 1 Gb. harrdrive.
For AMI WinBIOS 486, you'll have to enable LBA.

That was it!
Thank you, that was driving me nuts.
