How to add a CD rom to a 486 class machine
How to add a CD rom to a 486 class machine
This may be a stupid question but I can't figure it out, which if any of the 486 machines support CD-Rom and how do I get it to work. I ask because most of my legacy floppy software I long ago converted into ISO's. My DOS 6.22, Windows 3.0, Windows 3.1 and Windows 3.11 WFW are all CD ISO's now instead of floppy disks or Floppy img files.

All of them support CD-ROM. You need to use a CD driver that supports the second IDE channel - OAKCDROM.SYS will do this.

Ok thank you, I can't make it be seen in bios, but this is fine then?

Yes, that's fine. The BIOS doesn't have to know anything about the CD-ROM drive.

- RomanOn: I suggest waiting for my big CD-ROM patch to be fully processed by Tom. Then CD's should load fine.
