About that missing OS X port...

So a while back, you may have seen my thread asking why there was no port of PCem for OS X. Someone suggested that I should run it through Wine. I am using Wine to run emulators like VICE, EightyOne, WinUAE, and PCem; and all of them run under Wine very well.

So, you might be thinking "But Katakis, if you are able to run it through Wine, why are you bringing OS X up again?" Well, I downloaded one of Sarah's development builds and examined the /src folder, where I found 2 files labeled "cdrom-ioctl-osx.c" and "Makefile.osx64-wx-sdl2". This suggests to me that an OS X port was planned.

However, I read on VOGONS that James was the maintainer of the OS X port (not sure if he is related to James-F), but looks like he hasn't the skills to maintain such a port, which is a shame considering that all the popular emulators have OS X ports. I think that the only way we can get the port is if enough people posted in the Host Machine Survey that they have a Mac, but it looks like I am the only one here who has one.

From what I gather, the new Linux GUI in this thread - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=637 - can be built for OS X. Now I don't know if it still builds, or if anyone is actually willing to support it. But it looks like it is _theoretically_ possible.

I'm not aware of anyone declaring themselves as the maintainer of an OS X port. Could you point me to the thread on VOGONS where this is stated?

Sorry, I meant BetaArchive, not VOGONS.

That was last year and the branch never produced anything. And no, that James has nothing to do with James-F.
