Gfx tearing

Post by TheMechanist »

I'm using a internal VSync-wait for my prods to avoid tearing when updating the gfx memory and it's working in DOSBox & real hardware .. when running PCem I see more or less heavy tearing between the frames (emulating i286/16 on i3 / i5, runs at full speed) .. even with the latest mainline. It doesn't matter, if PCem vsync option is active, if opengl renderer or software (I see no differences at all when playing around with the new video settings), with or without activated composition manager (XFCE, Mate) ..

Any suggestions ?

.. after playing around it doesn't seem to be a PCem issue but a more or less common linux issue .. I deactivated xfwm composition manager, installed compton composition manager, activated glx backend with opengl-oml vsync and now tearing is almost gone, now there is a visible difference when pcem's vsync is activated too ! .. and the rest of tearing results probably from the low end specs of my host, more tearing when more demanding task like screen record are running ..
