Mach64 and S3 ViRGE software cursor panning bugs

Post by SA1988 »

Well, whenever I click and drag the cursor over the desktop or inside a folder or whatever, it results in glitches in 16bpp and 24/32bpp modes. Happens in anything that is able to handle a S3 ViRGE or a Mach64GX/VT2 card regarding the PCem configuration used under Win2000 and WinXP, and in version 15 too. This can be reproduced with "Enable pointer shadow" in the Control Panel, Mouse Properties, Pointers.

Bump.
This is getting annoying I guess.

I'll get round to it when I get round to it. Bumping will not achieve anything.

It's also tough to tell if this is even a real bug or not, as this is sometimes possible on real computers as well.

I had a S3 Virge and experienced exactly the same bug. It was a driver bug and yes, it was related to pointer shadow rendering.

If memory serves me right it was specific to a certain driver and reverting to an earlier one, fixed it.

Driver version of the earlier one? I'm curious.

I really wish I had the talent to remember the version number for a specific driver of a graphic card I owned 25 years ago...
