[BUG] PCem crashes with DTC 5150x HD controller on Compaq Portable

Post by DSN »

Hi all!

I was not able to setup DOS 2.14 on Compaq Portable Plus, because PCem crashed shortly before the boot with this
error when "DTC 5150X" is selected:

Code: Select all

Unknown Xebec command - 20 07 00 00 00 00
I tried "IBM Fixed Disk Adapter (Xebec)", and it seems to not crash with this controller , but appears to get stuck in a blinking cursor.

Can anyone confirm this? Maybe a PCem bug?

My machine:
Compaq Portable Plus
8088/4.77mhz
256Kb ram
Compaq CGA (Green monochrome)
dual 360k 5.25" floppy drives
20mb harddrive (Type 02)
Mouse Systems 3 button mouse

EDIT: I was wrong, I confused DOS 2.12 with DOS 2.14. Sorry.

I tried this morning, using your specs, and have it working here with DOS 2.02 and 3.3. I don' have 2.14 so can't test that.

just saying that Starting the system while no os is installed on the hdd causes pcem to crash, I was choosing the OS disks:
pcem: ../../src/hb-object-private.hh:154: Type* hb_object_reference(Type*) [with Type = hb_unicode_funcs_t]: Assertion `hb_object_is_valid (obj)' failed.
