PCem-vNext-Windows-MINGW64-9 not recognize Roms

Post by Siggy12 »

Hello,
I have downloaded the build "PCem-vNext-Windows-MINGW64-9" but when I start It I get the error "NO Roms present" message,
I have the Roms inside the "roms" folder and I copied it many time to be assure of it, previous build of PCEM of june open perfectly.
I have tried also on a empty folder putting build "PCem-vNext-Windows-MINGW64-9" and romset in "roms" folder but I receive anyway the message "NO Roms present"

Greetings!

I am assuming you mean this download:
https://github.com/sarah-walker-pcem/pc ... 3503323850

The place of the config folder has changed in recent commits and this includes the place for the roms folder. This was mentioned on the development post here on the boards. Basically, now you need a ".pcem" folder in the user folder ( like C:\User\yourusername\.pcem ) and there is where the roms folder and other config files should go now.

Manley made this change to align the version with what the linux version does. Said that, I think I remember something about making it possible to have a file next to revert to old behaviour (portable-like mode).

You can check the sources or wait to see if someone else know it better.

Thank You for reply!
Solved it! at this point I think is better update the message "No Roms Present" adding where roms have to be for help users.
anyway didn't solve my crush when I press play to start a machine.

Edit: added my log.

Edit: I found the way to make the folder portable again and not need to use the "user" folder.

Make a ".pcem" where the exe is and put the roms, configs, etc subfolders inside (but not the exe and dlls).
