Best way capture pcem video & audio
Hi,
DOSBox has a built-in screen video capture function.
Any recommendations for a Linux & Windows Tool for screen video capturing PCem ? I tried some with linux but didn't find a satisfactory tool especially when it comes to capturing just the screen but not the window border ..

What I did for my videos is carefully set up a window capture with VirtualDub (with a trial-and-error-specified resolution so i'd capture the window title along with the emulation just to show its execution/emulated machine)

VirtualDub is what I'm using as well. I did use FRAPS for a bit, but I switched from a GeForce to a Radeon a while ago and FRAPS doesn't seem to like AMD's drivers very much, causing significant slowdown.

I use OBS Studio (https://obsproject.com) to record videos on both Windows and Linux.

I use FFsplit.

MSI's Afterburner works with videos and screenshots.

VirtualDub is an excelent tool for editing video too
Re: Best way capture pcem video & audio
I using Windows 10's stock game DVR to recording.
If you use Windows 10, press Win+G, remember PCem to game application.
And you can use record(Win+Alt+R) on PCem.
It saves to Videos/Captures directory when recording.

Whoa! Go Microsoft! I had no idea Windows 10 could do that.basic2004 wrote:I using Windows 10's stock game DVR to recording.

Re: Best way capture pcem video & audio
OBS Studio crashed with memory violence on Ubuntu 16.04 .. btw. PCem changes window size on Linux everytime the resolution changes (textmode/gfx) and does it too while boot process, is there a way to keep a fixed windows size like DOSBox does, at least on linux it is hard to capture screen that's why ..

Does it crash immediately on start or after a certain action?TheMechanist wrote:OBS Studio crashed with memory violence on Ubuntu 16.04 .. btw. With wxWidgets/SDL2 on Linux you can enable Video -> Resizable window and the window won't resize automatically anymore.

Hmm, I think OBS Studio requires OpenGL 3.2+. What does glxinfo report?TheMechanist wrote:OBS Studio - immediately after start, after it failed to create GL context ..

Yeah wx is the new GUI for Linux. Mainline should be stable, but there have been improvements which has not yet been merged into mainline but are available in my repo at https://github.com/mborjesson/PCem-wx-SDL2
To build it you run ./configure --enable-wx and then make as usual.
EDIT: The improvements are now in mainline so you can just update from the main repo :)

Re: Best way capture pcem video & audio
with the excellent new wx/sdl gui screen recording is now very simple and accurate under linux, since the window size and position can be fixed, even on low end machines .. I used kazam which is very straight forward and doesn't require much ressources, it's even available from the offical ubuntu repository .. perfect !
Re: Best way capture pcem video & audio
I use ScreenFlow (for OS X) every time I want to record something in PCem.
