Just went through the code quick, I see it's statically set. Is there a chance to make a quick patch for the NE2000 adapter where you can define a MAC address (currently I can only set the address and IRQ)? It seems to always have the same mac address. SLiRP doesn't work so I am using NPCAP but when it connects to my DHCP server it always obtains the same IP ...

+1. That's the main reason why I can't wait for networking to be released in this version. If the hard drive maps straight to a folder then problem sorted.
Networking just seems the easier route now what with all the sector mapping etc. that will have to happen vs already established disk image
