A Hotkey to Change ISOs Would Be Nice
I don't how easy this would be to implement, but it would be really nice if there was a hotkey to open a dialog to change CD images so you don't have to exit fullscreen to swap discs. Would be especially helpful for multiple CD games so you don't have you break the immersion factor when changing dis...

Yep
Discovered when having issues running the War in Heaven on a Voodoo 2 that even emulated the card goes nuts when you try and run a heavy game with a version of DX that doesn't match the installed driver. So latest VD2 driver + DX7 is the best combo.

Quicktime Content Makes a PII/233 Return a 1Ghz Clockspeed
https://i.imgur.com/uAzVsf1.png I was seeing how a P2 on my system could handle a realistically heavy load by opening a quicktime based sampler after even torture testing running Half-Life at minimum everything on a Voodoo 3 3000 to max frames only dropped emulation speed to 95%. I don't know what'...

Re: PCem v18 News (Was v17 Notice)
Are there any plans in the pipe for speeding up or optimizing the emulation any? As of now even with CPU tweaks via a batch file (disabled SMT and forcing high-priority) I'm topping out at a Pentium II 233 on my 5600X and it would be nice if I could at least iron out the brief second of emulation la...

Re: Audio Glitches and Awkward Video Speed
Navigate to the Video section of the PCem's menu which is right below its status bar. Here you will see an entry called Render driver. Try different render drivers to see which one works best for you. Another thing to try: in your Windows Task Manager navigate to the Details tab. Look for the pcem ...

My CPU is AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics @ 1.80 GHz. I have a RAM of 16.0 GB and my OS is Windows 11. I have a laptop. It sounds like you're thermal throttling because that chip should be capable of up to 4.3Ghz How can I fix that? There's not much you can do with a laptop unless you try ru...

Re: Running PCem emulation in GPU
I had been vaguely pondering the idea of running the Voodoo emulation as a compute shader. Might be unworkable, but possibly worth considering for some point in the distant future. Might get PCEM up and running later 9x games on systems that are running fast quad cores and entry level GPUs that can...

I'd like to post a final update that using that "hack" of forcing PCEM to run without SMT I now have a Pentium II 233Mhz with a Voodoo 3 3000 running at 100% speed on an R5-5600X. I think I've discovered something beneficial here.

In theory, your CPU should do at least Pentium II 233 if not 266 flawlessly considering that the upper limit of flawless operation on my i7 6700 non-K is Pentium MMX 166. I can play several games at 100% on Pentium II 233 and some 3D-accelerated ones (e.g. The Need for Speed III) work most of the t...

Re: Stuttering sound in Win98 machine
Ryzen 5 3500 U is unfortunately too slow for proper Pentium MMX 233 emulation which is why you're getting stuttering sound. Try selecting Pentium MMX 166. OP might be able to get away with a Pentium 200, that's the limit of what I could do on my 3600X and currently can do on my 5600X. 233Mhz is def...

Weird Zen 3 Behavior
So, I'm running a 5600X over here and I can emulate up to a Pentium 200 with a Voodoo 3 3000 flawlessly. However, when I try to step up to a Pentium 233 I'm noticing PCEM is actually leaving a lot of power on the table. My CPU can sustain a clock speed of 4.5Ghz all core when it's turbo kicks in but...

Re: host cpu + loop = emulated cpu boost + accurate cpu emulation
It sounds like you're describing a horrible complicated way of implementing a frame rate lock. Something that doesn't work because the reasons CPU speed can break old games is more complex than that. Like what happens in the 7th Guest where access to a CPU that's signigantly faster than it was desig...

It's about experimenting and tuning to figure what CPU you go into most things without noticeable slowdown with. For me that's so far turned out to be a Pentium MMX 200Mhz on my 3600X that hits 4.1Ghz PBO all core. 233Mhz if I'm not planning on running anything that uses Quicktime that particular se...

This particular failure only happens when I try to build a system with this particular motherboard. The ASUS boards also get stuck...

It is not fixed
However with the fact it doesn't happen on the Pentium II/233 I can confirm it's a specifically with the MMX CPUs on Socket 7.
