Re: Question about copy protection in dos games
Another one question: can I ask someone for the codes of a specific game when I need them here? This is allowed in this forum?

Question about copy protection in dos games
Hi all, I have a question here just for curiosity.
1) What is copy protection? Why this is used in dos games like Monkey Island?
2) Where can I go to find codes/answers for games?

[BUG] IBM ESDI Fixed Disk controller not working on PS/2s
I'm trying to install OS/2 1.20 on a PS/2 Model 80, but FDISK says that is no fixed disk are present.
Screenshot: This occurs in all PS/2 machines with the IBM ESDI controller. DOS 3.3's FDISK also does not detect the harddrive with this controller.

SimCity 3000 hangs with Voodoo2
Hello all! I found an issue in SC3000. When Voodoo2 is selected in Preferences, it hangs when I click to start a city, in the city options window (or a starter city) (fps drops to 0, as shown in the status window). Otherwise, with S3VirgeDX selected in preferences it works fine, how this? What do yo...

My questions about PCem
Hi all!
I have some questions here.
1 - What is the release date for v16?
2 - Are PCJr carts supported? I have River Raid (an .JRC file) for the IBM PCjr, so how can I load it on PCem?
3 - The Matrox Mystique is complete or not?

Yes, is at 100% speed when playing most DOS games, but in DOS text mode is 95-96%.

Re: Some weird things in PCem...
As I mentioned earlier, the CD music in Earthworm Jim 2 is stuttering even with 4x CDROM speed I tested on my DOS system, 2x speed will probably have stuttering music also, I will test later. Anyway I don't know if this occurs because of the CDROM speed, probably a bug in PCem. I would like to know ...

Re: Some weird things in PCem...
Yes, I know. I'm using only for testing and not for general use. Perhaps the Matrox Mystique won't contain any display bugs, like the Stealth 3D 2000, S3 Virge DX and S3 Trio64 have.

Some weird things in PCem...
Hello all! I found some weirdness in PCem (probably bugs). (1) The Machine window shows any program that use 640x480x4 mode running in 320x480, like X-COM Apocalypse's DOS installer: 320X480.png This happens in most of the graphics cards I used previously, including S3Virge/DX, Stealth 3D 2000 and a...

Re: My question: why PCem is much resource intensive?
You're right. I also have some slowdowns in my SiS 496/497/Overdrive-83 DOS 6.22/Win3.11 machine, where I play my DOS/Win16/Win32s games. At DOS idle (text mode) emulation speed is 95-96%. And at Win3.11 idle is about 91-96% speed, but when playing some games (like Civilization 2), the speed gets a ...

My question: why PCem is much resource intensive?
Hello! I have one question here just for the curious. What makes PCem much CPU intensive? I have extremely low emulation speed with PMMX 233 on my Win98SE test machine I've created, I tested NFS: High Stakes in it with a Voodoo2 (no SLI) and I get about only 9-10-11 FPS (as shown in the Machine Stat...

Re: Guide on how to setup GEM in 1512?
Thank you. But I do have original disks, I only have floppy images of MS-DOS 3.20 (Amstrad) and GEM 2.1.
What HDD controller I should select in my configuration? I already had created my PC1512 config.
