Re: compile v9 to run on win98

Sometimes people want to do things just so they can see if they can be done. Like porting UAE to AmigaOS 3.1.... Completely pointless, but its done just so one can say they did it.

If you want to stay stuck in your bubble okay but it really did happen to us twice I refuse to change the story to please you. Each time we returned the Commodore 64 with the same broken J key. Twice was enough from different sellers and different times widely apart. Now we are done with the topic....

Re: What's your thoughts on Windows 2000 vs Windows ME vs XP Service Pack 3 on both real and emulation for older softwar

Back in the day, all three of them made using MS-DOS applications harder, Windows ME (based on Windows 98) being the less problematic of all them. For the Windows side of things, Windows ME was a Windows 98 with a couple of nice things ( like move to folder, copy to folder, a feature that didn't ma...

Is the demand just not there? You'd think 20 years later someone would've figured something out: It seems like Xenia in terms of emulation. I feel like we will be able to have full Forza Horizon races without missing textures or random crashes before we have a decent XP and I DON'T take that lightl...

Re: A Hotkey to Change ISOs Would Be Nice

Every single other emulator for anything heavier than a Super Nintendo fully supports hardware acceleration so that is completely false. If the dev wanted to he could 100% find a way to make use of it. At the very least GPU emulation could be offloaded to it in order to free up resources for CPU em...

It's been through it several times because it's a unavoidable fact we're approaching a hard wall with the single-threaded performance of x86 CPUs so emulation that doesn't leverage multi-threading is going to get left behind since the point you can't brute force it with fast enough single-threaded ...

will there ever be a host key?

something that allows use of some key combo's without triggering global events on the host, like Alt+Tab is unusable on windows hosts. Which makes switching applications on windows virtual machines impossible in some circumstances.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: MichaelJManley taking over as PCem maintainer

As said MULTIPLE times before, Pentium III and Voodoo 5 are not coming anytime soon, PIII support would be good only to have SSE emulation. But I would probably think a fictitious speed grade would need to be implemented to ensure smooth performance on most systems. Like a P3 200mhz. It would be pr...

I think virtual CDs are the best way to use CDs with PCem. You will get very fast performance and with the Voodoo 2/3 it will look better than most Pentium PCs back in the day. One option would be to place your CD ISO within a PCem virtual hard disk and run Daemon Tools from within a PCem VM. I do ...

About any of them that added Vulkan support have some level of multi-threading when using that API because AMD designed it to be well optimized for multi-core CPUs. Running Dolphin on a CPU with weak single core like an FX is night and day between DX and Vulkan. Those are HLE. PCEM is not. Nor is i...
