Re: Config manager

Anything you download and build off of the latest source code is going to have bugs in it. You're basically running a test build. :)

The latest official release is the V12 on the Downloads page.

Re: [Linux] GUI discussion

With SDL2 and wxwidgets is not so difficult. We could use SDL_GetWindowWMInfo to get native handle (HWND on Windows) from SDL window and wxNativeWindow to embed it in the wxwidgets application. My reading of their post was that they wanted it the other way around. And please quote my entire post. I...

Re: [Linux] GUI discussion

I just build a 64-bit PCem-wx-SDL2 https://github.com/mborjesson/PCem-wx-SDL2 It seems impossible that a SDL display window and control window cannot be merged into one window. Gonna explain this. :) The tl;dr is that theoretically, there's nothing stopping you; it just doesn't work that well, is p...

If you have access to the original hardware, try reproducing the issue with the exact same drivers as on PCem.

You could also try later and earlier S3 Virge drivers in PCem. :)

Re: Patches for linux

I think that the problems we currently encounter is caused by random use of lower/upper case letters for the rom names. Moreover the casing was different between the docs and actual code, so matching readme will not help. And I think, once it would be clear that all files and dirs need to use lower...

For me, the "./configure, make, make install" isn't a problem; it's the 2-4 other libraries it wants me to install first, and sometimes those libraries want other libraries...

And PCem runs just fine in Windows on VMWare.

Re: Patches for linux

Even with a HDD, a thousand items per second is not out of line. I don't think scanning the rom dir is going to be a problem. :) How to check: If you have a HDD, check the properties. It'll start counting files and stored data (Linux Mint and Windows). Mine peaked at ~1000 files/second in the first ...

Re: Linux

Probably not much use for it at this point - At that era of Linux development, its main use, IIRC, was for servers. And PCem 12 doesn't have internet. :)

A source build might; someone might chime in on that.

Edit: Also, post made while tired.

My guess would be that later graphics cards emulate DirectDraw using Direct3D.

But that's just a guess.

Re: P300MMX?

You might want to fix your quotes. :) I think +300MHz and good overclocking improvements are entirely reasonable for the Ryzen refresh, agreed. Motherboard updates (software and hardware) should also help current Ryzen hit its peak; RAM support is spotty. Windows 10 also needs updated multi-threadin...

There's a good video by Gamers Nexus explaining differences in reviews. Or at least, it seems like a good one to me - I'm not a reviewer, and I don't have any inside information. AMD Ryzen was overhyped by a lot of people, IMO. What we got with the R7's seems reasonable. Very reasonable, in fact; 8...

I haven't gone off and done any real research, but I haven't run into any common compression format that 7-zip won't open, so it's pretty much my go-to for that.

For Linux, it's command-line only, though.

Re: Dynamic recompiler

CPU emulation takes ~90% of the main thread. Voodoo threads will run up to 100% utilisation each. Potentially increasing the number of Voodoo threads would improve peak Voodoo performance, but given that the current CPU emulation can't drive the existing Voodoo emulation at 100% it would be somewha...

As for AMD core counts, a few recent AMD Ryzen leaks strongly imply that the consumer CPUs may actually have twice as many cores (4 core i3-equivalents, 8-core i5 equivalents, 8-core 16-thread i7-equivalents). Re: Unknown register write in CMDFIFO mode 00003d18 00000280 error when trying to run a game

The Voodoo2 DirectX 7 Beta driver obviously requires a DirectX version of at least 7.0. DirectX 6 isn't going to cut it. i had already installed dx 7.but it was on top of dx 4 and 6. i uninstalled them and reinstalled just 7 and it now works Old un/installers could be pretty bad. If possible may I ask what do you think of the AMD cpus FX-8350 or 8370 clocked at 4Ghz (turbo 4.2 and 4.3 Ghz respectively)? I'm pretty sure flyers80 was talking about Supercard Pro format support on the host side, not the guest side. It's a floppy image format that samples disks at the flux level, similar to Kryoflux.
