Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

Omarsis81, thats not a problem, that is not the reason i does slow down so much, it might not achieve the desired speed or smothness but emulated CPU must work on 100% if host is strong enough. if game requires more, then it wont work as it should but still, CPU can not slow down as much, vorob runs...

Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

i run the demo using p120mmx and game was mostly 90-95% on my 2.7ghz when i open menu it drops to 30-40%, then i run it on p75 and it runs well, 100% , although no as nice , but fine, then i open menu and bahh, it goes to 40% , you are right , something isnt right, either with PCem or game engine, c...

Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

Leelei, ss2 really has poor engine and is badly optimized. it consuming the real cpu power. in the old days when everyone had pII/III i had 233mmx, overclocked to 266 and ss2 was still showing how demanding it is. Omarsis81!!! you see? 3 threads and you running at 4.5ghz, nice cpu. When you run on 4...

Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

thanks omarsis81, i tryed without HT and its much better, altough i have ony 2 threads then and voodoo2 isnt performing as fast , what i can clearly notice on nfsIII menu and its "flying" description of cars brands. however ill use from now on only 2 threads without HT cos CPU works better, and ther...

Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

i excluded one thread only cos i have 4 and only 3 are used, you can check it on any fps test switching off thread by thread and you will see. You got 8 and still only 3 are used but fortunate for you, you can run some apps in backround and assign unused threads to PCem, i dont have much possibiliti...

to Omarsis81 , i cant PM you the picture so i put it here.
CPU Coaligation/affinity set to 3 on cpu 0,1,2 excluding 4th thread. task manager perf. up to 75% , -25% from not using one core/thread.

Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

Omarsis81, you right i forgot, it can do that only on single thread. my poor i52410m is 2.3 and turbo 2.9 when i run PCem on 3 threads it runs at 2.7. Your cpu goes up to 4.3ghz running on 3 threads according to specs, his cpu goes to 3.3ghz on 3 threads (cores if you like). Omarsis run cpuZ or simi...

Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

Leilei his cpu run at 3.5 turbo, and i am more than sure , that when it runs PCem it runs at full speed, but you right about 4.5ghz.

Vorob, ss2 is a quite CPU intensive game for its age.

Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

no it does not utilize GPU, cos it emulates an virtual GPU from voodoo 1/2 and The whole job is performing by Your host CPU, so if you have Gforce 20.0000 fffxx or intel hd2500 it works the same. it really can not use GPU to emulate anything , cos it needs to run a program, emulating eg. Voodoo chip...

Re: PCem 12 and slowmotion issue

i seen the video, and they are running well, there is nothing wrong with it. quake on your setup hovers around 60-70% thats where slowdown come from, ss2 runs in about 50% and if you are not running but walking ,that is the speed. you run quake in pcem on 1024? are you mad? if it could help go down ...

Re: Audio Lag with PCem 11 (was able to repro in latest source)

well i had libopenal-1.dll in old pcem distribution directory, but i deldeted. i did search the drive and i finally find that openAL32.dll was in windows/sysWOW64 directory and apparentely my builds use that file, cos after deleting that last file they stopped working as well, this openAL32.dll is 1...

sadly in v12 same fluttering and cracking sound at boot appear, looks as if Alut is used again? i removed OpenAL32.dll from PCem directory and and MY build v12 from src included in v12 distribution downloaded from PCem-emulator.co.uk is working fine, all problems disappear, but original distributed ...

Re: Dynamic recompiler

amazing, real good explanation, but you get this completely wrong, i meant the all components on one thread, except voodoo, and cpu on other thread. Emulating every component on separate thread would be uterly stupid. By mentioning all the boards i meant to visualise how already single core is busy ...

Re: Dynamic recompiler

Dreamer , you are right, and it will be massive task to rewrite all components, but it will take much less if only one PC will be changed , and only one Dispaly, sound adapter etc. not the whole PCem but only one complete PC with specific boards. still a lot of work. without voodoo emulation it coul...

Last time i asked about splitting on multiple threads which now i understand is not possible, this time i asked for moving on to separate thread. Re: Dynamic recompiler

Dreamer, you right i m not using SSD. Maybe just dynarec could be on second thread, and main CPU emulation will stay with PCem? i m sure syncing, could be done and unless somebody will try do it partialy or anyhow it will stay on "maybe, might be". But thank You for crashing my hopes  , ;)

Re: Dynamic recompiler

I have a question about the CPU emulation, cos i use poor i5 2140m and i can emulate like p100 on windows 98 and idle it stays 100% ,i can run ex. NFS3 and it is 100% during gameplay, most of the time, but when in windows i do copy files, open folders , browse cd rom , it goes down to 80% easy, so o...

Re: Cannot compile a working executable

Glad to hear that it works, but strangely i didnt had to copy anything to src folder (where release was build) to make executable , unless you try to run the exe in this folder, then you need three dll's from gcc/bin folder, libwinpthread-1.dll, libstdc++-6.dll, libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll is that the case? ...

Thank You Sarah, i just did 633, no lag and no fluttering, win/win ;)

add: its kind of pitty , that most users dont know, how much is being done, through the years to get to that stage. :(
Before , even myself, didnt realise how great PCem is, and how hard You guys worked on it.

Re: Cannot compile a working executable

Now this is simplest thing for anyone who wants to compile and dont know how, just download mingw_gcc-5.3.0-3_ready_to_compile_v8.3_for_pcem.7z and extract the content to pcem/src folder, then click Compile_release_build.bat and ... thats it, just wait and PCem_release.exe will be in this folder aft...
